The first night of action took\u00a0place tonight at the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, N.C., with the Denison men and Emory women taking day one leads.<\/p>\n
Denison, lead by a huge diving effort, moved in front of the men’s race with 131 points, while Kenyon placed second with 117.5 points. \u00a0Emory was the only other team close with a third-place tally of 105 points<\/p>\n
The Emory women held a slim 127-119 lead against Kenyon. Denison was the closest team to the clear top-two efforts with a third-place 79-point tally.<\/p>\n

Johns Hopkins’ Andrew Greenhalgh<\/strong> defended his NCAA D3 title with a time of 4:21.83. \u00a0That swim was well off his 2015 NCAA D3 record of 4:20.60, but nearly a second enough to pick up the title this time around.<\/p>\n
Kenyon’s Arthur Conover<\/strong> took second-place honors in a time of 4:22.69 with Emory’s Christian Baker<\/strong> (4:23.46) and Thomas Gordon<\/strong> (4:26.92) picking up big points for their squad with third and fourth overall.<\/p>\n

Lindell clocked a top time of 1:46.00 for the win, clipping his previous record of 1:46.07 set during prelims today. \u00a0That swim lowered the previous record of 1:46.23 set by Emory’s Andrew Wilson<\/strong> just a year ago.<\/p>\n
Lindell became the first swimmer from Denison to win the event since Matt Trumbull<\/strong> did it back in 1999.<\/p>\n
Johns Hopkins’ Evan Holder<\/strong> took second in 1:46.40 with Kenyon’s Ian Reardon<\/strong> (1:47.32) and Trevor Manz<\/strong> (1:48.70) claiming third and fourth.<\/p>\n
