FOUR Masters world records, one European and six Swiss National records were set during the 1st Zurich International Long Course Masters Championships held Sept. 5-7 in Zurich, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen, 46, had an outstanding meet bettering four Masters world records for the 45-49 age group.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming in the first heat of the first event in this inaugural meet, Pipes-Neilsen posted a 5:13.85 in the 400 IM, slicing more than three second off her previous world best of 5:17.30 set in April. She had to make up for a late start due to misunderstanding the starter&#39;s commands. <\/p>\n<p>In the 400 free, Pipes-Neilsen emerged with the win and a world mark of 4:35.84 to best her previous record of 4:38.29 set in 2007. <\/p>\n<p>Pipes-Neilsen followed by regaining her 100 fly global standard with a 1:05.69.  Arlene Delmage of the Oregon Masters had taken it from Pipes-Neilsen with a 1:06.42 at the USMS Long Course National Championships this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Pipes-Neilsen claimed another world record with a 29.52 in the 50 fly to complete her meet.<\/p>\n<p>Regula Steiger, 56, became the first European woman older than 55 to break 30 seconds with a 29.99 in the 50 free \u2013 setting a Swiss record in the process.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#39;s side, three more Swiss standards fell during the meet.  Elmira Simitovic posted a 2:48.91 in the 25-29 200 IM, while Marie Stutz turned in a 5:44.61 in the 55-59 400 free.  Maya-Claire Diezi also touched in 4:54.54 in the 65-69 200 breast.<\/p>\n<p>The men accounted for two other Swiss records.
