{"id":190262,"date":"2016-03-12T11:28:09","date_gmt":"2016-03-12T18:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=190262"},"modified":"2016-03-14T07:33:51","modified_gmt":"2016-03-14T14:33:51","slug":"adam-peaty-unloads-top-ranked-59-55-in-100-breast-in-edinburgh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/adam-peaty-unloads-top-ranked-59-55-in-100-breast-in-edinburgh\/","title":{"rendered":"Adam Peaty Unloads Top-Ranked 59.55 in 100 Breast in Edinburgh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong> unloaded the fastest men&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke of the year at the 2016 Edinburgh Invitational.<\/p>\n<p>Peaty uncorked a 59.55 to move ahead of <strong>Yasuhiro Koseki<\/strong> (59.67) and <strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong> (59.91) for the top spot in the rankings. \u00a0Those are the only three swimmers to legally complete a sub-1:00 time this year. \u00a0<strong>Cody Miller<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/joao-gomes-clips-josh-prenot-100-breast-crown-orlando\/\">had broken a minute at the Arena Pro Swim Series, but drew a disqualification<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Peaty split the race 27.85, 5955 (31.70). \u00a0<strong>Craig Benson<\/strong> tied <strong>Ross Murdoch<\/strong> for second behind him with 1:00.92s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> hit the wall in 53.31 to win the women&#8217;s 100-meter free title. \u00a0That swim shot her to fourth in the world. \u00a0Only <strong>Cate Campbell<\/strong> (52.85), <strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> (53.12) and <strong>Bronte Campbell<\/strong> (53.30) have been faster this year. <strong>Robin Neumann<\/strong> tied <strong>Jess Jackson<\/strong> for second with 55.40s.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the night,<strong> Pal Joensen<\/strong> claimed the men&#8217;s 1500-meter free title in 15:07.76. \u00a0That swim moved him to fifth in the world rankings <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/katinka-hosszu-cranks-out-european-record-429-89-in-france\/\" target=\"_blank\">with <strong>Damien Joly<\/strong> owning the top-ranked time in the world with a 14:58.18<\/a>. <strong>Stephen Milne<\/strong> finished second in 15:10.13 with <strong>Jay Lelliott<\/strong> earning third in 15:21.97.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camilla Hattersley<\/strong> captured the women&#8217;s 400-meter free title in 4:10.90 with <strong>Hannah Miley<\/strong> taking second in 4:11.04. \u00a0<strong>Eleanor Faulkner<\/strong> wound up third in 4:13.23.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jemma Lowe<\/strong> earned the women&#8217;s 200-meter fly title in 2:08.61 to move to 11th in the world. \u00a0<strong>Aimee Willmott<\/strong> (2:10.07) and <strong>Laura Stephens<\/strong> (2:12.87) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Max Litchfield<\/strong> took home the men&#8217;s 200-meter IM title in 2:01.89. \u00a0<strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> (2:02.79) and <strong>Kyle Stolk<\/strong> (2:04.55) claimed second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joeri Verlinden<\/strong> stopped the clock in 53.53 to win the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly. \u00a0<strong>Viktor Bromer<\/strong> finished a close second in 53.58 with<strong> Kregor Zirk<\/strong> earning third in 53.61.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Siobhan O&#8217;Connor<\/strong> earned the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast crown in 2:27.27. \u00a0<strong>Yvette Man-yi Kong<\/strong> (2:27.96) and <strong>Corrie Scott<\/strong> (2:29.84) took second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Cumberlidge<\/strong>, meanwhile, won the men&#8217;s 50-meter freestyle skins tournament with <strong>Jessica Steiger<\/strong> claiming the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly skins tourney.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mie Nielson<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 50-meter back skins tourney with <strong>Luke Greenbank<\/strong> topping the men&#8217;s 50-meter back skins tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Final skins times are not yet available.<\/p>\n<p>More to come.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Peaty unloaded the fastest men&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke of the year at the 2016 Edinburgh Invitational.
