Action began tonight with distance events and 200 meter relays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kate Magill\u00a0<\/strong>from Seacoast Swimming Association was the first champion of the weekend. The 16 year old won the women&#8217;s 1500 freestyle by a twelve second margin, stopping the clock at 17:29.99. There was a very close race for second between Arizona Aquatic Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Irena Putikova\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Pine Crest&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Audrey Mason<\/strong> as the two tied in 17:41.75, both posting over 20 second drops.<\/p>\n<p>Azura&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marcelo Acosta\u00a0<\/strong>was dominant in the men&#8217;s 800 freestyle, finishing in 8:06.67, over 30 seconds ahead of second place.\u00a0<strong>Matthew Strickland\u00a0<\/strong>of Swim Florida finished second in 8:42.79. Third place went to South Florida&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rafael Rodriguez <\/strong>in 8:46.04.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 200 medley relay, South Florida&#8217;s A squad of\u00a0<strong>Carolina Colorado<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alia Atkinson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Claire Donahue<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Golding\u00a0<\/strong>were first to the wall in 1:54.38. The team&#8217;s B crew of\u00a0<strong>Kelley Heron<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ksen Golovkina<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Catalina Mendieta<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Alina Schulhofer\u00a0<\/strong>were third in 2:00.29. The Colorado Stars finished second with\u00a0<strong>Fernanda Gonzalez<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Missy Franklin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jada Surrell-Norwood<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Tang Yi\u00a0<\/strong>finishing in 1:57.70.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Stars edged their South Florida competition in the 200 freestyle relay. Surrell-Norwood, Gonzalez, Ti, and Franklin posted a winning time of 1:44.15. Atkinson, Donahue, Colorado and Mendieta combined for a second place time of 1:46.35. Gator Swim Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Talia Bates<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kirschtine Balbuena<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Julia Rodriguez<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Isabel Ivey\u00a0<\/strong>were just behind in a third place time of 1:46.87.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 200 medley relay\u00a0Azura touched first in 1:46.60 with\u00a0the team of\u00a0<strong>Fernando Alatorre<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nicolo&#8217; Ossola<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Marcos Lavado<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Raiz Tjon-A-Joe<\/strong>. The Blue Dolfins&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Zachary Poti<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Whitty<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>John Fulginiti<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Reilly Maguire\u00a0<\/strong>were second in 1:49.03. South Florida rounded out the top three in 1:50.50 with\u00a0<strong>Esteban Diaz-Velasco<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kile Aukerman<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Juan Diaz<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Capote<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Azura snagged another relay title in the 200 freestyle. Tjion-A-Joe, Ossola,\u00a0<strong>Stefano Pisu<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Marco Guarente\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 1:35.41 to win the event. Swim Fort Lauderdale finished second in 1:36.76 with the team of\u00a0<strong>Nikita Tretyakov<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Philippe Marcoux<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Julien Pinon<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Raphael Marcoux.<\/strong> The Colorado Stars were third as\u00a0<strong>Kent Olsen-Stavrakas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Blake Wilton<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Max Grogan<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Austin Phillips\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 1:37.18.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado Stars put together Olsen-Stavrakas, Franklin, Phillips, and Yi to take the mixed 200 freestyle relay in a time of 1:39.58. Gator Swim Club finished second with\u00a0<strong>Mason Wilby<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Julian Hill<\/strong>, Bates, and Ivey in 1:41.68. Third place went to the Blue Dolfins&#8217;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Fulginiti,\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Hunt<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Madison Floyd<\/strong>, and Poti in 1:44.15.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzalez, Phillips, <strong>Blake Wilton<\/strong>, and Franklin won the mixed 200 medley for the Colorado Stars.\u00a0Gator Swim Club touched\u00a0second with the team of\u00a0<strong>Caitlin Brooks<\/strong>, Ivey, Wilby, and\u00a0<strong>Eric Geunes<\/strong> in 1:52.89.
