It was a fast start to the 2016 NCAA Division II Nationals. Queens’\u00a0Patricia Castro Ortega\u00a0<\/strong>lowered her own DII record<\/a> in the women’s 200 IM again, and Lindenwood’s\u00a0Serghei Golban\u00a0<\/strong>set a new record<\/a> in the men’s 50 free.<\/p>\n

The Queens women already have a sizable lead ahead of Drury and Wingate after day one.\u00a0Despite a relay DQ this morning, Queens still leads on the men’s side, followed by Lindenwood and Nova Southeastern.<\/p>\n

Cal Baptist’s\u00a0Christina Halverson\u00a0<\/strong>won the first final of the evening in 9:51.96. The sophomore dropped over ten seconds from her seed time and was just off the DII record.<\/p>\n

Grand Valley’s\u00a0Leonie Van Noort\u00a0<\/strong>had a strong finish to take\u00a0second in 9:52.51. Lindenwood’s\u00a0Alecia\u00a0<\/strong>Macgillivray<\/b>, who won this event last year, took third in 9:57.76.<\/p>\n

West Chester’s\u00a0Theresa Hayward\u00a0<\/strong>(9:58.13), Lindenwood’s\u00a0Kyleigh Troxel\u00a0<\/strong>(9:59.45), Queens’\u00a0Mckenzie Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>(10:00.04), Drury’s\u00a0Sarah Pullen\u00a0<\/strong>(10:00.11), and UC-San Diego’s\u00a0Reagan Eickert\u00a0<\/strong>(10:08.21) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n
