{"id":189749,"date":"2016-03-06T17:14:04","date_gmt":"2016-03-07T00:14:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=189749"},"modified":"2016-03-06T17:14:04","modified_gmt":"2016-03-07T00:14:04","slug":"abbey-weitzeil-clocks-4th-fastest-100-yard-free-to-win-in-austin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/abbey-weitzeil-clocks-4th-fastest-100-yard-free-to-win-in-austin\/","title":{"rendered":"Abbey Weitzeil Clocks 4th-Fastest 100-Yard Free To Win in Austin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canyons&#8217; <strong>Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong> wasn&#8217;t able to replicate her morning swim of 46.47, but she still managed to post the fourth-fastest women&#8217;s 100-yard free time in history at the 2016 American Short Course Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Weitzeil posted a 46.52, going out in 21.88 and coming back in 24.64.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, she went out in 22.11 and came back in 24.36. \u00a0So, she definitely paid the price of going out so fast tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless, that is still the fourth-fastest time ever, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-division-i-womens-championships-simone-manuel-reclaims-american-record-in-100-free\/\" target=\"_blank\">behind only Simone Manuel\u2019s American record of 46.09<\/a>\u00a0from the 2015 NCAA Championships and Weitzeil\u2019s personal best of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-abbey-weitzeil-destroy-100-free-american-record\/\" target=\"_blank\">46.29 from the 2014 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals<\/a>\u00a0as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/abbey-weitzeil-blitzes-100-yard-free-prelims-with-3rd-fastest-time-ever\/\" target=\"_blank\">her preliminary swim of 46.47<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During prelims, Weitzeil broke the pool record of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ncaa-division-i-womens-championships-georgia-sets-american-record-to-win-400-free-relay-california-still-wins-team-title\/\" target=\"_blank\">46.82 set by <strong>Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace<\/strong> while swimming for Auburn during the 2011 NCAA Championships<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Weitzeil is on fire this weekend in Austin. \u00a0She already moved to sixth in the world in the 50-meter free with a 24.72 and seventh in the world in the 100-meter free with a 54.00 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/andrew-wilson-abbey-weitzeil-santo-condorelli-shine-during-lcm-portion-of-american-short-course-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\">during the LCM portion of the meet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<pre><b>                            === A -
