Connor Bjellum of Fargo South had quite the meet at the North Dakota High School State Championships.<\/p>\n
His day started in the 200-yard medley relay. Fargo South won the race\u00a0with a time of 1:37.18. The team consisted of backstroker\u00a0Josh Olson,\u00a0<\/strong>breaststroker\u00a0Luke Bergstrom,\u00a0<\/strong>butterflier\u00a0Andrew Hollingsworth<\/strong> and Bjellum, who swam freestyle.\u00a0<\/strong>Century finished almost a second later in 1:38.06, and Minot posed a time of 1:39.26.<\/p>\n Bjellum then\u00a0<\/strong>brought home a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The senior won by four-tenths of a second with a time of 1:44.56. Fargo Davies’\u00a0Maxwell Lingle\u00a0<\/strong>touched second.\u00a0Sam Artz\u00a0<\/strong>of Century took third with a time of 1:46.89.<\/p>\n Minot’s\u00a0Gerald Brown\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:56.38, winning by over a second. Hollingsworth touched second with a time of 1:58.00, and Century’s\u00a0Kyler Alme <\/strong>rounded out the top three in 1:59.25.<\/p>\n In the 50-yard freestyle, Century’s\u00a0Quentin Hogue\u00a0<\/strong>took first place with a time of 21.72. Bergstrom was second in 21.75, just three-hundredths of a second behind Hogue. WF Sheyenne’s\u00a0Zach Bueling\u00a0<\/strong>touched third in 22.24.<\/p>\n Minot’s\u00a0Coel Armagost\u00a0<\/strong>won the diving competition with a score of 475.10. He was followed by Jamestown’s\u00a0Cody Lutman\u00a0<\/strong>and Mandan’s\u00a0Johnny Mindt.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Hollingsworth took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.52. West Fargo’s\u00a0Jacob Nygaard\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 53.23, and Artz was third with a time of 54.02.<\/p>\n In the 100-yard freestyle, Bjellum picked his second individual win of the day. He touched the wall in 46.71, winning by over a second. Hogue was second in 48.36.\u00a0Bobby Poynter\u00a0<\/strong>of Fargo Davies was third with a time of 48.78.<\/p>\n Maxwell Lingle\u00a0<\/strong>of Fargo Davies touched first in the 500-yard freestyle. He posted a time of 4:50.14, just ahead of Fargo North’s\u00a0Shaun Mengelkoch<\/strong>, who finished in 4:50.41. WF Sheyenne’s\u00a0Cole Weisz\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 4:55.19.<\/p>\n Hogue,\u00a0Adam Noland<\/strong>,\u00a0Artz and\u00a0Taylor Hedge\u00a0<\/strong>teamed up to give Century a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, touching in 1:27.85. Fargo Davies finished second in 1:29.76, and Mandan rounded out the top three with a time of 1:31.62.<\/p>\n In the 100-yard backstroke,\u00a0Gerald Brown\u00a0<\/strong>of Minot won in 52.15. Bueling was second in 54.29 and was followed by Mandan’s\u00a0Reed Bergman,\u00a0<\/strong>who posted a time of 55.31.<\/p>\n Century had a huge showing in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking the top four spots of the race. Alme touched first with a time of 58.01, just ahead of\u00a0Ethan Porter’s\u00a0<\/strong>58.21.\u00a0Eric Bergson\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 1:00.87.<\/p>\n Bjellum finished his day with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. He teamed up with\u00a0Bergstrom,\u00a0Massimo Sassi<\/strong> and Hollingsworth to win 3:13.65.
