{"id":189736,"date":"2016-03-06T09:39:26","date_gmt":"2016-03-06T16:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=189736"},"modified":"2016-03-06T09:43:46","modified_gmt":"2016-03-06T16:43:46","slug":"fran-halsall-florent-manaudou-move-to-2nd-in-world-in-marseilles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/fran-halsall-florent-manaudou-move-to-2nd-in-world-in-marseilles\/","title":{"rendered":"Fran Halsall, Florent Manaudou, Sarah Sjostrom Move to 2nd in World in Marseilles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FFN Golden Tour stop in Marseilles produced three\u00a0more second-ranked swims with <strong>Fran Halsall, Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> and <strong>Florent Manaudou<\/strong> both putting up scorchers in the freestyle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fran Halsall<\/strong> raced her way to second in the world with a 24.23 in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free. \u00a0That&#8217;s behind only<strong> Sarah Sjostrom&#8217;s<\/strong> 24.17 from Austin. \u00a0Sjostrom took second tonight in 24.53 with <strong>Silvia Di Pietro<\/strong> grabbing third in 24.93.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom powered her way to second in the world in the women&#8217;s 200-meter free with a 1:55.48. \u00a0That&#8217;s just ahead of the 1:55.53 Commonwealth record from <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong> today in Australia and behind <strong>Katie Ledecky&#8217;s<\/strong> 1:54.43 from the Austin stop of the Arena Series. \u00a0<strong>Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong> placed second in 1:57.17 with <strong>Veronika Popova<\/strong> taking third in 1:58.07.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Florent Manaudou<\/strong> leapfrogged a few spots to move to second in the world in the men&#8217;s 100-meter free with a 48.00. \u00a0That&#8217;s just ahead of the 48.05 <strong>Nathan Adrian<\/strong> clocked last night at the Arena Pro Swim Series, and is just behind <strong>Cameron McEvoy&#8217;s<\/strong> 47.56 from Australia. <strong>Clement Mignon<\/strong> took second in 48.38 for fourth in the world with <strong>Jeremy Stravius<\/strong> placing third in 49.00.<\/p>\n<p><strong>James Guy<\/strong>\u00a0cruised to a 3:47.96 in the men&#8217;s 400-meter free. \u00a0That performance put him fourth in the world rankings. <strong>\u00a0Paul Biedermann<\/strong> (3:50.22) and <strong>Jacob Heidtmann<\/strong> (3:50.40) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Viktoria Zeynep Gunes<\/strong> hit the wall in 2:24.55 to win the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast and move up to eighth in the world. \u00a0<strong>Jessica Vall Montero<\/strong> took second in 2:25.65 with <strong>Chloe Tutton<\/strong> checking in third in 2:25.67.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lara Grangeon<\/strong> topped the women&#8217;s 200-meter fly in 2:07.98 to move to fifth in the world. \u00a0<strong>Liliana Szilagyi<\/strong> placed second in 2:08.41 with <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> fading to third in 2:08.51 after burning up her gas tank during day one and two in the IMs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anastasia Fesikova<\/strong> became just the seventh swimmer under 1:00 in the women&#8217;s 100-meter back this year with a seventh-ranked 59.91. \u00a0<strong>Elizabeth Simmonds<\/strong> took second in 1:00.29 with Hosszu faltering down the stretch with a third-place time of 1:00.66.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matteo Rivolta<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly in a time of 52.46 to move to sixth in the world. \u00a0<strong>Mehdy Metella<\/strong> took second in 52.63 for 12th in the world. <strong>Steffen Deibler<\/strong> placed third in 53.59.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jan-Philip Glania<\/strong> checked in with a 1:58.52 to win the men&#8217;s 200-meter back to move to 12th in the world. \u00a0<strong>Christian Diener<\/strong> placed second in 1:58.75 for 15th in the world. \u00a0<strong>Oleg Garasymovytch<\/strong> took third in 2:00.83.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Verraszto<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 200-meter IM in 2:00.86 with <strong>Raphael Stacchiotti<\/strong> earning second in 2:01.12. \u00a0<strong>Giovanni Sorriso<\/strong> placed third in 2:02.32.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> claimed the men&#8217;s 100-meter breast in 1:00.99 with <strong>Marco Koch<\/strong> taking second in 1:01.10. <strong>Christian Vom Lehn<\/strong> took third overall in 1:01.26.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2016-ffn-golden-tour-marseilles-day-3\/international-elite\/2016\/March\/4\" target=\"_blank\">2016 FFN Golden Tour Marseilles: Day 3 &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The FFN Golden Tour stop in Marseilles produced three\u00a0more second-ranked swims with Fran Halsall, Sarah Sjostrom and Florent Manaudou both putting up scorchers in the freestyle.
