2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando.<\/p>\n<p>Acosta hit the wall in a time of 15:13.09. \u00a0That crushed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ryan-cochrane-cruises-to-pan-american-games-mark-in-1500-free\/\" target=\"_blank\">his previous record of 15:16.26 from the 2015 Pan American Games<\/a>, and moved him to ninth in the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>With that FINA A cut, Acosta is the first swimmer from his country to earn a berth in the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Club Wolverine&#8217;s <strong>Connor Jaeger<\/strong>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/connor-jaeger-dominates-1500-free-austin\/\" target=\"_blank\"> the third-ranked swimmer in the world with a 15:06.24 from Austin<\/a>, took second tonight in 15:14.68.<\/p>\n<p>Gator&#8217;s <strong>True Sweetser<\/strong> picked up third tonight in the event with a time of 15:14.92 to move to 12th in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Plymouth&#8217;s <strong>Andrew Abruzzo<\/strong>, 16, dropped 15 seconds from his seed time to take fourth in 15:15.99 out of the earlier heats, while Badger&#8217;s <strong>Zane Grothe<\/strong> finished fifth in 15:24.94.<\/p>\n<p>NCAP&#8217;s <strong>Andrew Gemmell<\/strong> (15:28.14), Sarasota&#8217;s <strong>Theodore Smith<\/strong> (15:32.66) and Club Wolverine&#8217;s
