Saint Thomas was victorious at the Minnesota (A) High School State Championships. The team scored 430 points,\u00a0nearly 200 more than second place Breck Blake.<\/p>\n

Saint Thomas started the day strong, winning the 200-yard medley relay. Backstroke\u00a0William Burns,\u00a0<\/strong>breaststroker\u00a0Colin Glass,\u00a0<\/strong>butterflier\u00a0Jack Foster\u00a0<\/strong>and freestyler\u00a0William Mayleben\u00a0<\/strong>posted a time of 1:34.99. Red Wing finished in second place with a time of 1:35.63, and Breck Blake touched third in 1:37.30.<\/p>\n Saint Thomas’\u00a0Warren Sexson\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:39.79. His teammate,\u00a0Tommy Weiss<\/strong>, took third in 1:42.40. Simley’s\u00a0Michael Modica\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 1:41.20.<\/p>\n Will Grassle\u00a0<\/strong>of Breck Blake took first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:54.58. Glass and Foster finished second and third, respectively. Glass touched in 1:57.02 and Foster posted a time of 1:57.17.<\/p>\n In the 50-yard freestyle, Grand Rapids’\u00a0Matt Allison\u00a0<\/strong>took\u00a0win in 20.91. He was followed by Fergus Falls’\u00a0Luke Raitz<\/strong>, who touched in 21.11, and St. Thomas’\u00a0Hunter Nielsen<\/strong>, who finished in 21.20.<\/p>\n Simley’s\u00a0Nathan Stone\u00a0<\/strong>took the diving competition with a score of 462.65. He was followed by Northfield’s\u00a0Jack Cuddy\u00a0<\/strong>and Dassel Cokato Litchfield’s\u00a0Taylor LaZarre.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Fairbault’s\u00a0Paul Sadergaski\u00a0<\/strong>earned a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.04. Weiss was second in 50.47, and Ben Walker\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0Austin\u00a0touched third in 50.77.<\/p>\n Modica brought home a win in the 100-yard freestyle, touching in 45.77. Allison was second in 46.11, and Hutchinson’s\u00a0Matt Trettin\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three with a time of 46.74.<\/p>\n Sexson picked up his second win of the day in the 500-yard freestyle. The senior touched in 4:35.36. WINA\u00a0Griffin WOlner\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 4:41.60, and Spencer Pruett<\/strong>\u00a0of Breck Blake touched in 4:48.89 to round out the top three.<\/p>\n Saint Thomas brought home its second relay title in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of\u00a0Nielsen, Mayleben,\u00a0Eric Ruzicka\u00a0<\/strong>and Weiss finished\u00a0in 1:25.04. Simley touched over two seconds later in 1:27.14. Austin finished in 1:27.28 to take third.<\/p>\n Red Wing’s\u00a0Hunter Connelly\u00a0<\/strong>brought home a victory in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 48.87. Oronto’s\u00a0Will Brenton\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 50.81. Sartell-St. Stephen’s\u00a0Mitchell Dockendorf\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three with a time of 53.24.<\/p>\n Glass took the crown in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.86. Alexandria’s\u00a0Nic Chromey\u00a0<\/strong>touched second in 58.11, and Mayleben brought home a third place finish with a time of 58.70.<\/p>\n St. Thomas swept the relays with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team consisted of Nielsel, Weiss, Ruzicka and Sexson and posted a time of 3:06.11.
