Women’s 800 free<\/strong><\/p>\n

NBAC’s Lotte Friis<\/strong> collected the women’s 800-meter freestyle at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando.<\/p>\n

Friis hit the wall in a time of 8:29.81. \u00a0That swim is just a few seconds off her fourth-ranked season best of 8:27.23 from the Austin stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This was a rare 800 free with Katie Ledecky<\/strong> not competing in the event as she’s focused her efforts on much shorter distances for a change-up this week.<\/p>\n

Badger’s Lindsay Vrooman<\/strong> finished second overall in 8:30.98. \u00a0That vaulted her to seventh in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

Gator’s Andreina Pinto Perez<\/strong> placed third overall in a time of 8:31.64 to move up to 10th in the world.<\/p>\n

Triangle’s Ashley Twichell<\/strong> (8:36.45), NBAC’s Cierra Runge<\/strong> (8:37.84), Chile’s Kristel Kobrich<\/strong> (8:40.45), Vietnam’s Vien Nguyen<\/strong> (8:44.56) and Argentina’s Delfina Pignatiello<\/strong> (8:47.74) rounded out the top eight in the timed final event.<\/p>\n

Stanford’s Maya DiRado<\/strong> won her third title of the meet with a sizzler in the women’s 200-meter IM at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando.<\/p>\n
DiRado hit the wall in a scorching 2:10.77 to move to third in the world behind Katinka Hosszu’s<\/strong> 2:07.69 from earlier today<\/a> and Sakiko Shimizu’s<\/strong> second-ranked 2:10.51. \u00a0DiRado’s previous best this year had been her prelim 2:13.65.<\/p>\n
Saint Petersburg’s Melanie Margalis<\/strong> raced her way into second in the finale with a time of 2:11.72 to move to third in the world, while BlueFish’s Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong> took third in 2:12.43 for seventh in the world rankings in what was a truly fast final heat.<\/p>\n
Trojan’s Yuliya Efimova<\/strong>, a breaststroke specialist, even moved into the action with a fourth-place 2:12.96 to move into the top 15.<\/p>\n
NCAP’s Katie Ledecky<\/strong> smashed her lifetime best of 2:15.10 with a 2:14.36 for fifth overall.<\/p>\n
Vietnam’s Vien Nguyen<\/strong> (2:16.36), Gator’s Hilda Luthersdottir<\/strong> (2:16.93) and Irish’s Emma Reaney<\/strong> (2:17.50) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n

Pereira cranked out a time of 1:59.82 to touchout fellow Brazilian Henrique Rodrigues<\/strong>, who placed second in 1:59.97. \u00a0Pereira moved up to ninth in the world with Rodrigues finishing 12th in the world.<\/p>\n
Trojan’s Conor Dwyer<\/strong> took third overall in 2:00.03 for 13th in the world, while Gator’s Eduardo Solaeche<\/strong> finished fourth in 2:01.20.<\/p>\n
Gator’s Sebastien Rousseau<\/strong> (2:03.45), California’s Marcin Tarczynski<\/strong> (2:03.97), Wisconsin’s Michael Weiss<\/strong> (2:05.18) and NBAC’s Austin Surhoff<\/strong> (2:06.30) also swam in the final heat.<\/p>\n

Colorado Stars’ Missy Franklin<\/strong> overhauled Dominique Bouchard<\/strong> in the women’s 200-meter back at the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series Orlando.<\/p>\n
Franklin came storming home in 31.96 to catch Bouchard with a 2:08.77 to sweep the backstroke events here in Orlando. \u00a0She moved up to fifth in the world this year, bettering her sixth-ranked 2:09.21 from Austin<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Bouchard, meanwhile, wound up second in 2:08.90 to tie Minna Atherton<\/strong> for sixth in the world.<\/p>\n
BlueFish’s Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong> raced her way into third in a 2:09.75 to move up to 13th in the world.<\/p>\n
