Day three finals of the 2016 Pac 12 Championships displayed multiple close match-ups with Stanford (275) leading the competition by a strong 46 points.<\/p>\n
Events:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> of Cal rose to the top of the podium in the 400 IM with a sizzling 3:39.78. Seliskar shaved 3.49 seconds off his prelims time of 3:43.27.<\/p>\n Stanford teammates\u00a0Abrahm DeVine\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Curtis Ogren\u00a0<\/strong>finished second and third respectively. DeVine delivered a 3:40.20 to move up to second and take off 2.37 seconds from his prelims time of 3:42.57, while Ogren slipped to third with a final time of 3:41.43.<\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Patrick Mulcare\u00a0<\/strong>and Cal’s\u00a0Connor Green<\/strong> battled for fourth, turning in times .02 seconds apart. A faster back half from Mulcare allowed him to gain on Green’s early lead and out-touch him for fourth with a 3:43.35 over Green’s 3:43.37.<\/p>\n Stanford teammates Max Williamson\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Danny Thomson<\/strong> grabbed sixth and seventh with times of 3:46.04 and 3:46.61.<\/p>\n Cal’s Ken Takahashi\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight with a 3:48.88.<\/p>\n 100 FLY<\/strong><\/p>\n Cal’s\u00a0Justin Lynch\u00a0<\/strong>and USC’s\u00a0Alex Valente\u00a0<\/strong>battled for a close first, finishing a slim .02 seconds apart. Lynch stopped the clock at a 46.08 over Valente’s 46.10.<\/p>\n The close times continued with Arizona’s\u00a0Renny Richmond\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0ASU’s\u00a0Tadas\u00a0Duskinas\u00a0<\/strong>posted strikingly close times for third and fourth respectively. Richmond turned in a 46.11 over Duskinas’ 46.13.<\/p>\n Fifth went to Stanford’s\u00a0Connor Black<\/strong> who posted a final time of 46.37, while teammates\u00a0Gray Umbach<\/strong> (46.71) and\u00a0Andrew Liang\u00a0<\/strong>(46.73) finished sixth and seventh.<\/p>\n Long Gutierrez<\/strong> of Cal was eighth with a 52.67.<\/p>\n 200 FREE<\/strong><\/p>\n Reed Malone\u00a0<\/strong>of USC maintained his mid-distance prowess with a 1:33.08 win in the 200 free. Malone succeeded in shaving .47 seconds off his prelims time of 1:33.55.<\/p>\n Cal gathered places second through fourth with all three teammates posting times within 1.19 seconds.\u00a0Long Gutierrez\u00a0<\/strong>led the Cal charge with a 1:33.44, while teammate\u00a0Trent Williams\u00a0<\/strong>picked up third with a 1:34.11. Sophomore\u00a0Kyle Coan\u00a0<\/strong>finished fourth overall with a 1:34.63.<\/p>\n Michael Domagala<\/strong> of USC picked up fifth with a final time of 1:35.06 over Arizona’s\u00a0Ricky Maestri<\/strong> (1:35.21).<\/p>\n Bence Kiraly<\/strong> of Utah (1:35.33) and\u00a0Liam Egan<\/strong> of Stanford (1:35.74) finished seventh and eighth.<\/p>\n 100 BREAST<\/strong><\/p>\n Connor Hoppe\u00a0<\/strong>of Cal rocketed from his sixth place seed from prelims to first in finals, posting a final time of 51.86. The sophomore was out in a 24.29 and came back in a quick 27.57.<\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Carsten Vissering<\/strong> and Arizona’s\u00a0Blair Bish\u00a0<\/strong>posted close times as they battled for second. Bish split a 24.57 over Vissering’s 24.61 for the first 50, but Vissering kicked it into gear in the back half to finish second with a 52.41 over Bish’s 52.58.<\/p>\n David Morgan\u00a0<\/strong>of USC grabbed fourth with a time of 53.00, while Cal’s\u00a0Carson Sand\u00a0<\/strong>took fifth with a 53.05.<\/p>\n ASU’s\u00a0Christian Lorenz<\/strong> was sixth overall with a 53.10 over Arizona’s\u00a0Gage Crosby<\/strong> (53.39).<\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Steven Stumph\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top eight with a time of 53.49.<\/p>\n 100 BACK<\/strong><\/p>\n The 100 back field was led by a sophomore and two freshmen with Ralf Tribuntsov\u00a0<\/strong>of USC maintaining his spot at the top of the 100 back rankings with a quick 45.57, adding slightly to his prelims time of 45.30.<\/p>\n Arizona’s\u00a0Chatham Dobbs\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a final time of 45.72 for second, while Stanford’s\u00a0Ryan Dudzinski<\/strong> finished third overall with a 46.28.<\/p>\n ASU’s\u00a0Richard Bohus\u00a0<\/strong>and Stanford’s\u00a0Arata\u00a0<\/strong>turned in similar times of 46.49 and 46.57 for fourth and fifth. Bohus jumped ahead of Arata from the start posting a 22.55 at the 50 over Arata’s 22.69.<\/p>\n Stanford teammate\u00a0Patrick Conaton\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth with a final time of 47.16 over ASU’s\u00a0Reid Elliot\u00a0<\/strong>(47.78) and Cal’s\u00a0Michael Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>(47.81).<\/p>\n 3-METER DIVING<\/strong><\/p>\n Dash Enos<\/strong> of USC maintained his first place seed in 3-meter diving with a total of 419.35.<\/p>\n Stanford teammates\u00a0Connor Kuremsky<\/strong> and\u00a0Bradley Christensen\u00a0<\/strong>finished second and third respectively. Kuremsky posted an accumulated 367.25 points, while Christensen posted 360.85 points.<\/p>\n Utah’s\u00a0Josiah Purss\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a total of 357.85 points for fourth, while USC’s\u00a0Collin Pollard<\/strong> took fifth with 357.40.<\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Deon Reid\u00a0<\/strong>(346.90), Arizona’s\u00a0Dominic Ricotta\u00a0<\/strong>(340.85), and ASU’s\u00a0David Hoffer\u00a0<\/strong>(329.10) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n 400 MEDLEY RELAY<\/strong><\/p>\n Cal’s relay team of Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> (47.29),\u00a0Connor Hoppe<\/strong> (51.72),\u00a0Justin Lynch\u00a0<\/strong>(45.35), and\u00a0Long Gutierrez\u00a0<\/strong>(42.52)\u00a0delivered the top time in the 400 medley relay with a combined time of 3:06.89.<\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> (46.54),\u00a0Carsten Vissering<\/strong> (52.50),\u00a0Alex Valente<\/strong> (46.24), and\u00a0Ralf Tribuntsov<\/strong> (41.86) posted a combined time of 3:07.14 to finish second and shave 5.34 seconds off their entry time of 3:12.48.<\/p>\n Third went to the men of Arizona where the team of\u00a0Chatham Dobbs<\/strong> (45.94),\u00a0Blair Bish<\/strong> (52.74),\u00a0Renny Richmond\u00a0<\/strong>(45.98), and\u00a0Chad Idensohn\u00a0<\/strong>(43.62) finished with a time of 3:08.28.<\/p>\n Stanford finished fourth with a time of 3:08.37 ahead of ASU’s 3:08.78.<\/p>\n Arizona’s ‘B’ relay finished sixth overall with a 3:17.69 over Utah’s ‘B’ relay of 3:21.89.<\/p>\n Utah’s ‘A’ relay was disqualified.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Day three finals of the 2016 Pac 12 Championships displayed multiple close match-ups with Stanford (275) leading the competition by a strong 46 points.
