Day two finals of the 2016 Pac 12 Championships continue with some close match-ups after a dynamic prelims. Hit refresh for all of the latest coverage.<\/p>\n
Events:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n 500 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Reed Malone<\/strong> powered to a first place finish in the 500 free with a final time of 4:11.80, shaving 3.47 seconds off his prelims time of 4:15.27.<\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Liam Egan\u00a0<\/strong>slid to second, finishing with a time of 4:13.80, while teammate\u00a0Danny Thomson<\/strong> posted a final 4:14.61 for third.<\/p>\n Bence Kiraly<\/strong> of Utah delivered a time of 4:15.75 to finish fourth overall ahead of Cal’s\u00a0Janardan Burns\u00a0<\/strong>(4:16.47).<\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Pawel Furtek<\/strong> shaved 1.07 seconds off his prelims time to finish sixth with a 4:17.04.<\/p>\n Cal’s\u00a0Ryan Kao<\/strong> (4:18.61) and Arizona’s\u00a0Chris Wieser<\/strong> (4:19.96) finished seventh and eighth respectively.<\/p>\n 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n Cal freshman\u00a0Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> cruised to a first place finish in the 200 IM. Seliskar not only maintained his spot at the top of the rankings, but also succeeded in shaving .22 seconds off his prelims time of 1:43.38 to post a final time of 1:43.26.<\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Gray Umbach<\/strong> and\u00a0Abrahm DeVine<\/strong> entered finals with matching times of 1:43.56. Umbach pulled ahead of DeVine to post a final time of 1:43.41 over DeVine’s 1:43.51.<\/p>\n Teammate\u00a0Max Williamson<\/strong> ended the race with a time of 1:43.91 to finish fourth overall, while USC’s\u00a0Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> turned in a 1:44.22 for fifth.<\/p>\n Arizona’s\u00a0Nick Thorne<\/strong> (1:44.60), teammate\u00a0Thane Maudslien<\/strong> (1:44.62), and USC’s\u00a0Michael Domagala<\/strong> (1:44.75) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n 50 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n Sam Perry\u00a0<\/strong>of Stanford moved up from third to first, posting a final time of 19.30, shaving .31 seconds off his prelims time of 19.61.<\/p>\n Cal’s\u00a0Justin Lynch<\/strong> maintained his spot at second with a final time of 19.41, while Arizona’s\u00a0Chatham Dobbs\u00a0<\/strong>rocketed from seventh to third with a time of 19.57.<\/p>\n Cal’s\u00a0Tyler Messerschmidt<\/strong> and USC’s\u00a0Ralf Tribuntsov<\/strong> battled to the finish, posting times .01 seconds apart. Messerschmidt finished ahead of Tribuntsov 19.73 to 19.74.<\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Jeff\u00a0Garnier\u00a0<\/strong>and Arizona’s\u00a0Renny Richmond\u00a0<\/strong>delivered similar times for sixth and seventh place. Garnier turned in a 19.80 over Richmond’s 19.81.<\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Patrick Conaton\u00a0<\/strong>finished eighth with 19.95.<\/p>\n 200 Free Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n Arizona and Cal battled for first in the 200 free relay posting final times .48 seconds apart. Arizona’s relay team of\u00a0Renny Richmond\u00a0<\/strong>(19.77),\u00a0Chatham Dobbs\u00a0<\/strong>(19.29),\u00a0Chad Idensohn\u00a0<\/strong>(19.10), and\u00a0JP Beach\u00a0<\/strong>(19.25) posted a combined 1:17.41 for first.<\/p>\n The relay team of Messerschmidt (19.81),\u00a0Long Gutierrez<\/strong> (19.58),\u00a0Kyle Coan<\/strong> (19.54), and\u00a0Justin Lynch\u00a0<\/strong>(18.96) turned in a 1:17.89 for second, shaving .81 seconds from their entry time of 1:18.70.<\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Connor Black\u00a0<\/strong>(19.86),\u00a0Sam Perry<\/strong> (19.69),\u00a0Jeff Garnier\u00a0<\/strong>(19.28), and\u00a0Spencer DeShon\u00a0<\/strong>(19.31) finished third with a final time of 1:18.14.<\/p>\n USC was fourth with a time of 1:18.26, while ASU took fifth with a time of 1:18.86.<\/p>\n Stanford’s ‘B’ relay grabbed sixth with a time of 1:19.06 over Utah’s ‘A’ relay (1:22.12) and ‘B’ relay (1:23.50).<\/p>\n 1-Meter Diving<\/strong><\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Bradley Christensen\u00a0<\/strong>maintained his position as the top scorer posting a final score of 405.60 to win the 1-meter diving event.<\/p>\n USC’s\u00a0Collin Pollard\u00a0<\/strong>finished as a close second with a total of 402.15 points, while Utah’s\u00a0Josiah Purss<\/strong> grabbed third with an accumulated 385.50 points.<\/p>\n Fourth went to ASU’s\u00a0Heikki Makikallio<\/strong> and his 378.55 points and fifth was picked up by Utah’s\u00a0Jake Crayne\u00a0<\/strong>(367.10 points).<\/p>\n Stanford’s\u00a0Connor Kuremsky\u00a0<\/strong>(337.90), ASU’s\u00a0David Hoffer<\/strong> (319.30), and\u00a0Arizona’s\u00a0Dominic Ricotta<\/strong> (309.35) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Day two finals of the 2016 Pac 12 Championships continue with some close match-ups after a dynamic prelims.
