﻿{"id":189503,"date":"2016-03-03T14:38:51","date_gmt":"2016-03-03T21:38:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=189503"},"modified":"2016-03-03T18:49:45","modified_gmt":"2016-03-04T01:49:45","slug":"2016-naia-championships-day-2-finals-live-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2016-naia-championships-day-2-finals-live-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 NAIA Championships: Day 2 Finals Live Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day two of the 2016 NAIA Championships is in the bag after a 55-minute delay to the start due to lightning.<\/p>\n<p>The Olivet Nazarene men grabbed the lead after day 2 with 237.5 points. \u00a0SCAD held second with 169 points, while Lindenwood-Belleville owned third with 112 points.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia Tech (91.5) and Wayland Baptist (89) comprised the rest of the top five.<\/p>\n<p>The SCAD women led after day 2 with 205 points. \u00a0Olivet Nazarene (163.5), Biola (107), Brenau (105) and Cumberlands (97) rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 medley relay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SCAD&#8217;s <strong>Kandes Soapes<\/strong> (25.39), <strong>Heather Partlow<\/strong> (29.27), <strong>Shannon Cummings<\/strong> (25.20) and <strong>Julie Woody<\/strong> (23.70) cranked out a 1:43.56 to win the event. \u00a0That&#8217;s well short of the NAIA record of 1:41.40 keyed by Fresno Pacific&#8217;s <strong>Cheyenne Coffman<\/strong> in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Olivet Nazarene&#8217;s <strong>Deirdre Gerke, Andrea Vega, Amanda Moran and Kelsey Weener<\/strong> finished second in 1:44.37 with Biola&#8217;s <strong>Angela Kirschner, Christina Ali, Rebecca Brandt and Lisa Tixier<\/strong> taking third in 1:45.80.<\/p>\n<pre><b>                      === A -
