The 2016 NJCAA Championships are underway with the Indian River State College looking to continue their historic runs atop the division.\u00a0The first day of prelims did not disappoint as The River rolled right through the morning picking up at least the top 2 seeds in every event.<\/p>\n

Women’s 50 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indian River picked up three of the top eight times in the sprint breaststroke. \u00a0Breaststroke specialist Christina Loh<\/strong> led the way with a 30.03, while teammate Lauren Meyrick<\/strong> posted a 30.14. \u00a0Iowa Central’s Ann Marie Spiker<\/strong> snared third with a 31.42.<\/p>\n

IRSC’s Morgan Holt<\/strong> (2:09.06), Christina Loh<\/strong> (2:09.23) and Grace Lynch<\/strong> (2:10.93) went 1-2-3 for the River to lead qualifying. \u00a0They will need to step their game up in finals to challenge the NJCAA record of 2:01.05 set by IRSC’s Barbara Caraballo<\/strong> last year.<\/p>\n

Craig Elmslie<\/strong> put himself in position for a double tonight with a 1:51.46 for the top time for IRSC. \u00a0His teammates Cameron Newton<\/strong> (1:52.06), Rawley Davis<\/strong> (1:52.09) and Andrew Wojcik<\/strong> (1:53.08) went 2-3-4 behind him. \u00a0Elmslie has some time to drop to get after the 1998 NJCAA record of 1:47.68 set by Marcin Malinski<\/strong> of Indian River.<\/p>\n
