SYDNEY, Australia, August 22. MASTERS swimmers can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime Olympic-style experience at the 2009 World Masters Games held in Sydney, the seventh edition of the world's largest multi-sport event for which registrations have opened. <\/p>\n
Swimming is one of the 12 2009 World Masters Games sports competitions that will take place at a Sydney 2000 Olympic Games venue. The Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre will stage all the pool events, with the 3K open water swim taking place at Chowder Bay in the harborside suburb of Mosman. <\/p>\n
The 2009 World Masters Games, the international multi-sport event at which ordinary people can have extraordinary experiences, will see competitors from more than 100 countries go for gold in 28 sports, including swimming, at more than 70 excellent venues throughout the city over nine days \u2013 October 10-18 next year. <\/p>\n
"Sydney began the decade by staging the best Olympic Games and will end it by staging the best World Masters Games," says Shane O'Leary, Chief Executive Officer of the 2009 World Masters Games Organizing Committee. "None of the previous six World Masters Games host cities had a list of venues as good as those that competitors, particularly swimmers, will encounter in Sydney. <\/p>\n
