The last day of prelims at the 2016 Pac-12 Women’s Championship has been another exciting session. Stanford freshman\u00a0Ella Eastin<\/strong> continues to make a lasting impression on the swimming world and she’s set up for another individual win of the meet–her third in as many events. Eastin also became the seventh woman ever to go sub-1:52 in the 200 fly.\u00a0Going into tonight, No. 1 Stanford trails No. 4 USC by just five points.<\/p>\n

200 Backstroke<\/h2>\n

The top seed going into tonight’s final is Stanford’s sophomore\u00a0Janet Hu<\/strong>. Her 1:50.48 is well ahead of the rest of the field and over a second faster than her entry time. Second seed was grabbed by California’s freshman\u00a0Amy Bilquist<\/strong> with an impressive 1:52.25 and her freshman teammate\u00a0Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>nabbed the third seed just behind her with a 1:52.37. California brings three to this A final, Stanford and USC two, UCLA, one.<\/p>\n

The fight for top seed in the 100 freestyle took place between the two women who have been battling it out in the sprints the whole meet. California junior\u00a0Farida Osman<\/strong> won this battle for the top seed with a quick 47.34, just ahead of Stanford’s junior\u00a0Lia Neal<\/strong> (57.46). USC senior\u00a0Katarzyna Wilk<\/strong> rounded out the top three with another sub-48 time of 47.61. California, USC, and Arizona each swim two in the final, Stanford and UCLA, one.<\/p>\n

Stanford’s senior\u00a0Sarah Haase<\/strong> continued her domination of the breaststroke events this morning with a touch out for first seed. Haase’s 2:08.80 came in just ahead of Arizona’s senior\u00a0Emma Schoettmer<\/strong> (2:08.88).\u00a0Riley Scott,<\/strong> the freshman from USC earned third seed with a 2:09.12. USC fields two in the top heat, Arizona, Stanford, UCLA, California, Washington State, and Utah each have one.<\/p>\n

She easily earned top seed with a time of 1:51.96, which puts her in the company of\u00a0Katinka Hosszu, Natalie Coughlin, Kelsey Worrell, Kathleen Hersey, Elaine Breeden, Mary Mohler,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Christina Bechtel.\u00a0<\/strong>A distant second seed went to California sophomore\u00a0Noemie Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>(1:54.43), third went to her senior teammate\u00a0Kelly Naze\u00a0<\/strong>(1:54.67). California and USC field three each in the top heat, Stanford two.<\/p>\n
