Swimming Grand Prix at the University\u2019s Swimming Pool today, Saturday, 27<sup>th<\/sup> February 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong> did not disappoint, winning gold in the 200m butterfly in 1:56.60 and the 100m freestyle in 48.92, proving that his 2016 Olympic preparations are well on track.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calvyn Justus<\/strong> and<strong> Clayton Jimmie<\/strong> finished second and third in the freestyle event in 50.37 and 50.43, while <strong>Brendan Levy<\/strong> and <strong>Alard Basson<\/strong> won the silver and bronze in the butterfly in 2:03.45 and 2:05.04 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmie also made his way to the top of the medal podium in the 50m butterfly, touching the wall in 24.73, ahead of <strong>Nico Meyer<\/strong> in 24.75 and<strong> Reynard Wessels<\/strong> in 24.84.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> showed off his winning form in the 50m breaststroke, claiming the gold in a fast 27.72, with<strong> Jarred Crous<\/strong> taking home the silver in 27.82 and <strong>Michael Houlie<\/strong> the bronze in 28.84.<\/p>\n<p>Crous won his second silver of the day in the 200m breaststroke, when he ended the event with a time of 2:16.55 to <strong>Ayrton Sweeney\u2019s<\/strong> 2:14.81 and Slovenia\u2019s <strong>Thomas Klobbucnik\u2019s<\/strong> 2:20.60.<\/p>\n<p>On the ladies side, the British invasion began with <strong>Holly Hibbot<\/strong> and <strong>Lucy McKenzie<\/strong> in the 800m freestyle, when they finished first and second in 8:51.50 and 8:53.29 respectively, while SA\u2019s <strong>Michelle Weber<\/strong> scooped the bronze in 8:59.18.<\/p>\n<p>McKenzie went on to win the gold in the 200m individual medley in 2:19.40, ahead of teammate<strong> Katie Matts<\/strong> in 2:21.19 and <strong>Rebecca Meder<\/strong> in 2:22.79 and followed that with a bronze in the 200m freestyle in 2:04.73, behind Mzansi\u2019s <strong>Karin Prinsloo<\/strong> in 2:01.46 and Hibbot in 2:03.67.<\/p>\n<p>Matts also won the silver in the 100m breaststroke in 1:09.49 to<strong> Tatjana Schoenmaker\u2019s<\/strong> 1:09.39 and <strong>Kaylene Corbett\u2019s<\/strong> 1:09.90.<\/p>\n<p>The UK\u2019s<strong> Lauren Quigley<\/strong> was next in the water with two gold medals in the 50m freestyle in 25.70 and the 200m backstroke in 2:13.89.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jessica Ashley-Cooper<\/strong> and<strong> Erin Gallagher<\/strong> claimed the silver and bronze in the freestyle in 26.13 and 26.73, while <strong>Nathania van Niekerk<\/strong> and Denmark\u2019s <strong>Hannah Nissen<\/strong> finished second and third in the backstroke in 2:15.17 and 2:22.16 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher and Van Niekerk also made the perfect gold and silver duo in the 50m backstroke in 29.95 and 29.98 respectively, with the bronze medal going to <strong>Hannah Kiely<\/strong> in 31.30, while Ashley-Cooper bagged the silver medal in the 100m butterfly in 1:01.71.<\/p>\n<p>The winner in the butterfly race was <strong>Vanessa Mohr<\/strong> in 1:00.21 and the bronze was won by <strong>Rene Warnes<\/strong> in 1:03.93.<\/p>\n<p>In other results, <strong>Michael Meyer<\/strong> was victorious in the 400m individual medley in 4:30.83, ahead of <strong>Luan Grobbelaar<\/strong> in 4:39.08 and Danish swimmer <strong>Jacob Jorgensen<\/strong> in 4:41.48, while <strong>Matthew Meyer<\/strong> won the 400m freestyle in 3:54.98 to Egypt\u2019s <strong>Marwan Elcamarh\u2019s<\/strong> 3:55.21 and Denmark\u2019s <strong>Sebastian Oversen\u2019s<\/strong> 4:02.02.<\/p>\n<p>In the 100m backstroke, <strong>Neil de Villiers<\/strong> scooped the title in 57.37, while <strong>Jacques van Wyk<\/strong> won the silver in 57.66 and <strong>Martin Binedell<\/strong> the bronze in 57.96.<\/p>\n<p>The Stellenbosch leg of the SA Swimming Grand Prix concludes <span data-term=\"goog_1846465736\">tomorrow<\/span> with the finals starting at <span data-term=\"goog_1846465737\">10h00<\/span>, while the heats session will be held at <span data-term=\"goog_1846465738\">17h00<\/span> today.<\/p>\n<p><em>Swimming South Africa
