Swimmers from the Division I powerhouses including Upper Arlington and the boys&#8217; defending champions Cincinnati St. Xavier took to the pool today to qualify for the finals which will be held tomorrow evening.<\/p>\n<h2>200 Medley Relay<\/h2>\n<p>Mason&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Caroline Wolf<\/strong> (27.67),\u00a0<strong>Jordan Decker<\/strong> (29.16), A<strong>shley Volpenhein<\/strong> (24.66), and\u00a0<strong>Lauren Thomas<\/strong> (23.78) qualified first going into tomorrow night with a time of 1:45.27. The second seed was claimed by North Canton Hoover&#8217;s team of\u00a0<strong>Kate Lochridge<\/strong> (27.07),\u00a0<strong>Annie Lochridge<\/strong> (29.05),\u00a0<strong>Amanda Palutis<\/strong> (26.23), and\u00a0<strong>Parker Timken<\/strong> (23.73) when they touched at 1:46.08. A team of\u00a0<strong>Hanna Gresser<\/strong> (25.65),\u00a0<strong>Carly Hart<\/strong> (28.79),\u00a0<strong>Emma Kaczmar<\/strong> (27.40), and\u00a0<strong>Bryanna Renuart<\/strong> (24.39) claimed the third seed for Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit just three tenths behind North Canton Hoover (1:46.38).<\/p>\n<p>Returning State Champions Cincinnati St. Xavier put on a show with their top qualifying relay of\u00a0<strong>Justin Grender\u00a0<\/strong>(23.38),\u00a0<strong>Charles Leibson<\/strong> (25.79),\u00a0<strong>Luke Sobolewski<\/strong> (21.47), and\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Perera<\/strong> (20.58), who touched with a final time of 1:31.22. Columbus St. Charles&#8217; team was over a second behind St. Xavier with a time of 1:32.83, swum by a team of\u00a0<strong>Austin Beam\u00a0<\/strong>(23.94),\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Eramo<\/strong> (26.20),\u00a0<strong>Ben Sugar<\/strong> (22.22), and\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Ward\u00a0<\/strong>(20.47). Centerville qualified in third seed with a team of\u00a0<strong>Dylan Curtis\u00a0<\/strong>(22.46),\u00a0<strong>Sam McCarthy<\/strong> (27.42),\u00a0<strong>Chris Quarin<\/strong> (22.37), and\u00a0<strong>Austin Spruill<\/strong> (22.30) finishing with a 1:34.55.<\/p>\n<h2>200 Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p>Upper Arlington&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Trace\u00a0<\/strong>made a statement with her top qualifying time of 1:47.11 in the 200 free this morning. She was over three seconds ahead of the second seed\u00a0<strong>Molly Zilch<\/strong> from Cincinnati St. Ursula Academy (1:50.32). Mason&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Allison Bloebaum<\/strong> nabbed third seed with a 1:50.78.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Grant House\u00a0<\/strong>topped the qualifying charts in the boys&#8217; 200 free with a 1:37.88. Xenia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hank Siefert<\/strong>&#8216;s 1:39.08 was good enough for second seed, while\u00a0<strong>Parker Neri<\/strong> of Upper Arlington was right behind with a 1:39.43 for third seed.<\/p>\n<h2>200 IM<\/h2>\n<p>Cuyahoga Falls Wash Jesuit&#8217;s Hanna Gresser grabbed her first individual finals swim with her top seed in the 200 IM (2:01.48). She was followed by\u00a0<strong>Hannah Foster\u00a0<\/strong>of Cincinnati St. Ursula Academy, with a 2:02.82. Upper Arlington&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Erin Sheehan<\/strong> grabbed third with a 2:04.69.<\/p>\n<p>In the boys&#8217; race,\u00a0<strong>Cooper Hodge\u00a0<\/strong>of Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller qualified first with a time of 1:46.58, taking almost a second off of his seed time of a 1:47.47. Second seed went to\u00a0<strong>Tommy Cope<\/strong> of Vandalia Butler (1:47.20), while St. Xavier&#8217;s Nicholas Perera qualified third for his first individual event of the day with a 1:49.65.<\/p>\n<h2>50 Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p>Mason&#8217;s Ashley Volpenhein was the only girl under 23 in the 50 free&#8211;she qualified first with a time of 22.79.\u00a0<strong>Olivia Schmelzer<\/strong> of Lancaster was the second seed with a 23.30, closely followed by Centerville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nora Fullenkamp<\/strong> (23.37).<\/p>\n<p>Grove City&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kalvin Koethke\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed first seed with a quick 20.22 in the boys&#8217; race. Brecksville-Broadview&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>David Madej\u00a0<\/strong>was almost fourth tenths back with a second seed time of 20.59, while Nicholas Ward of Columbus St. Charles was third (20.77).<\/p>\n<h2>100 Butterfly<\/h2>\n<p>Kings Mill Kings&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Megan Sichterman<\/strong> grabbed the top qualifying time in the 100 fly by almost a second (54.19). Second seed went to Upper Arlington&#8217;s Erin Sheehan (54.95)&#8211;her second top-three qualification of the meet. Third went to\u00a0<strong>Madelyn Shaffer<\/strong> of Springfield.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier&#8217;s Luke Sobolewski qualified first in the boys&#8217; race with a 48.81, ahead of teammates\u00a0<strong>Mark<\/strong> Krusinski (49.26)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Matthew Martin<\/strong>\u00a0(49.65) of Brecksville-Broadview.<\/p>\n<h2>100 Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p>The top three qualifiers in the 100 free were the exact same girls in the same order as the 50 free. Ashley Volpenhein was the only girl to go under 50 with her 48.96. Olivia Schmelzer was again second with a 50.64, while Nora Fullenkamp grabbed third seed with a 51.18.<\/p>\n<p>David Madej and Kalvin Koethke switched places in the 100 free, with Madej qualifying first (44.54), about a half second ahead of Koethke (45.11). Dublin Coffman&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Eddie Michael\u00a0<\/strong>qualified third with a 45.67.<\/p>\n<h2>500 Freestyle<\/h2>\n<p>Upper Arlington&#8217;s Katie Trace added a second top seed to her meet with a 4:51.49 in the 500. Second seed Allison Bloebaum of Mason was almost five seconds behind Trace with a time of 4:56.32. Springboro&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sally Clough<\/strong> was just behind Bloebaum with a 4:56.85, good enough for third seed.<\/p>\n<p>The top three in the boys&#8217; race were all within 4 tenths of each other&#8211;Joshua McDonald of Liberty Township Lakota East grabbed the top seed with a 2:27.99, just ahead of St. Xavier&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Christian Imbus<\/strong> (4:28.05). Xenia&#8217;s Hank Siefert was third with a 4:28.20.<\/p>\n<h2>200 Freestyle Relay<\/h2>\n<p>Upper Arlington&#8217;s team of Erin Sheehan (23.62),\u00a0<strong>Anna Linzell<\/strong> (24.06),\u00a0<strong>Dakota Elliott<\/strong> (23.65), and Katie Trace (23.48) nabbed the top seed with a time of 1:34.81, ahead of Mason&#8217; team of\u00a0<strong>Gabby Marinelli\u00a0<\/strong>(24.00),\u00a0Jordan Decker (23.67), Allison Bloeman (24.45), and\u00a0<strong>Abby Esler\u00a0<\/strong>(23.42), who touched at 1:34.54. Third seed went to Amanda Palutsis (23.95), Kate Lochridge (23.89),\u00a0<strong>Regan Maxwell<\/strong> (24.50), and Parker Timken (23.45) of North Canton Hoover (1:35.79).<\/p>\n<p>Brecksville-Broadview claimed the boys&#8217; top seed with a 1:23.34 by a team of Mark Krusinski (21.15),\u00a0<strong>Mike Lynch<\/strong> (20.47), Matthew martin (21.50), and David Madej (20.22). Columbus St. Charles&#8217; team of\u00a0<strong>Hannes Kabelka\u00a0<\/strong>(21.11), Nicholas Ward (20.43),\u00a0<strong>Derek Nguyen\u00a0<\/strong>(20.94), and Ben Sugar (20.91) were just five one-hundredths behind the top seed with a time of 1:23.39, good enough for second seed. St. Xavier claimed third seed (1:24.31) with a team of Nicholas Perera (21.31),\u00a0<strong>Sean Brandabur\u00a0<\/strong>(21.42),\u00a0<strong>Matt Slabe<\/strong> (20.78), and Grant House (20.80).<\/p>\n<h2>100 Backstroke<\/h2>\n<p>Springboro&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hannah Whiteley\u00a0<\/strong>took first seed convincingly with a 54.22, over a second ahead of Brunswick&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cassandra Pasadyn<\/strong> (55.33). Springboro&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marianne Kahmann<\/strong> was third seed with a 55.62.<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier&#8217;s Luke Sobolewski added another top seed to his resume when he out touched Centerville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Dylan Curtis<\/strong> in the 100 back. Sobolewski was a 49.66, while Curtis was a 49.67. Austin Beam of Columbus St. Charles qualified third with a 50.26.<\/p>\n<h2>100 Breaststroke<\/h2>\n<p>Hanna Gresser grabbed her second individual top seed of the meet with a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.87). She was followed by Upper Arlington&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Hannah Caldwell<\/strong>, who qualified second with a 1:02.64. Caldwell&#8217;s teammate\u00a0Dakota Elliott nabbed third seed with a 1:02.86.<\/p>\n<p>Vandalia Butler&#8217;s Tommy Cope was the top qualifier in the boys&#8217; race with a 55.12.\u00a0<strong>Jason Mathews\u00a0<\/strong>of Pickerington North qualified second with a 55.58, while Centerville&#8217;s Chris Quarin was third with a 56.50.<\/p>\n<h2>400 Freestyle Relay<\/h2>\n<p>Mason qualified first with a 3:26.29 with a team of Gabby Marinelli (51.85), Abbey Esler (52.06), Allison Bloebaum (53.00), and Ashley Volpenhein (49.38). Upper Arlington&#8217;s team of Erin Sheehan (51.74), Anna Fischer (53.01),\u00a0<strong>Kendra Sheehan\u00a0<\/strong>(51.87), and Katie Trace (51.29) was second (3:27.91), while third seed went to Cincinnati St. Ursula Academy (3:30.34), swum by a team of Hannah Foster (51.25), Molly Zilch (52.34),\u00a0<strong>Kendyl Ferrara<\/strong> (53.90), and\u00a0<strong>Meredith Moellering<\/strong> (52.85).<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier qualified first with a time of Luke Sobolewski (46.67), <strong>Gordon Wheeler\u00a0<\/strong>(46.52), Sean Brandabur (46.65), and Justin Grender (45.53) for a time of 3:05.37. Brecksville-Broadview was just behind with a time of 3:05.97 by Mark Krusinski (47.27), Mike Lynch (46.47), Matthew Martin (47.83), and David Madej (44.40).
