The Men’s Ivy Swimming and Diving Championships kicked off Thursday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center at Brown University with three preliminary races: the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and 50-yard freestyle.<\/p>\n
Three swimmers were within four-tenths of a second of each other in the 500-yard freestyle heats. Pennsylvania’s\u00a0Chris Swanson\u00a0<\/strong>posted the top time of the morning, touching in 4:20.06. The 21-year old set the meet record last year with a time of 4:17.53. Yale swimmers finished second and third.\u00a0Brian Hogan\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 4:20.34 and\u00a0Kei Hyogo\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a time of 4:20.34.<\/p>\n Pennsylvania’s\u00a0Mark Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>secured a spot in lane four for tonight’s finals. He posted a time of 1:45.15. Princeton’s\u00a0Teo D’Alessandro\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 1:45.27 and his teammate\u00a0Marco Bove\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a time of 1:45.76.<\/p>\n Princeton’s\u00a0En-Wei Hu-Van Wright\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted to a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. He touched in 19.37.
