It&#8217;s turning out to be a dogfight between No. 1 Stanford, No. 4 USC, and No. 6 California. The No. 14 Arizona women are also edging there way into the mix.<\/p>\n<h2>500 free<\/h2>\n<p>The top spot going into finals was claimed by USC&#8217;s <strong>Chelsea Chenault<\/strong> (4:39.32). The junior was the only swimmer under the 4:40 barrier, but the entire A heat for tonight clocked in under 4:45. She was followed by a pair of women from California. The freshman\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Baker<\/strong> notched second seed (1:54.69) and senior\u00a0<strong>Liz Pelton<\/strong> was third (1:55.98). The entire top heat is under the 1:58 barrier.<\/p>\n<p>California has four of the top eight spots. Second seed goes to USC&#8217;s junior\u00a0<strong>Anika Apostalon<\/strong> (21.89), while Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Lia Neal<\/strong> rounded out the top 3 with a 22.01. The whole top heat is under 22.30.<\/p>\n<p>USC has two women in the top heat, as do California and Stanford.
