{"id":187290,"date":"2016-02-25T10:51:05","date_gmt":"2016-02-25T17:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=187290"},"modified":"2016-02-25T18:22:22","modified_gmt":"2016-02-26T01:22:22","slug":"oakland-looks-promising-day-2-prelims-horizon-league-chamipship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/oakland-looks-promising-day-2-prelims-horizon-league-chamipship\/","title":{"rendered":"Oakland Looks Promising After Day 2 Prelims of the Horizon League Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Katlynn Emaus, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><br \/>\nOakland placed multiple swimmers in the top eight going into finals.<strong> Nikki Flynn<\/strong> tied the meet record of the women\u2019s 50 free in the prelims of the second day of the 2016 Horizon League Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 500 Free<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Natalie Johnson<\/strong> from Milwaukee claimed the top seed with the time of 4:53.26.<strong> Brie Hines<\/strong> from University of Illinois Chicago, is seeded second with 4:53.60. Hines holds the meet record at 4:50.06, however her seed time coming into the meet is a 4:49.56. <strong>Krissy Harmon<\/strong> from Oakland University is seeded third at 4:56.22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 500 Free<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Nicholas Halverson<\/strong> from Milwaukee was the only one in the meet to break 4:30 in prelims. With a time of 4:29.78,<strong> Halverson<\/strong> claimed the top seed over <strong>Tim Halverson<\/strong> also from Milwaukee at 4:30.63, while <strong>Wiehan Boshoff<\/strong> from Wright State is seeded third at 4:30.71. Oakland placed four swimmers in the top eight for finals. The Grizzlies claimed the fourth seed, fifth seed, seventh seed and eighth seed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 200 IM<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Patricia Aschan<\/strong> from Oakland claimed the top seed with the time of 2:01.86 in the women\u2019s 200 yard IM. University of Illinois Chicago\u2019s <strong>Lexie Joy<\/strong> is seeded second going into final sat 2:03.33 while <strong>Addison Skogman<\/strong> from Milwaukee is seeded third at 2:04.04. Aschan has been 2:00.69 this year and is looking to take down the meet record of 2:00.41.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 200 IM<\/strong><br \/>\nThe top time going into finals for the men\u2019s 200 IM is from Oakland\u2019s <strong>Tuomas Kiviluoma<\/strong> at 1:47.94. Behind him is <strong>Mitchell Stover<\/strong> from Wright State at 1:48.19 and Green Bay\u2019s<strong> Willem Poelmans<\/strong> is seeded third at 1:49.00. Kiviluoma is a little over a second off the meet record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s 50 Free<\/strong><br \/>\nOakland\u2019s <strong>Nikki Flynn<\/strong> tied the meet record and broke the school record this morning at prelims coming off of breaking the meet record last night in the 800 free relay as well as leading off in a time that is under the meet record in the 200 free. With the time of 22.90, Flynn will be the fastest qualifier going into finals. There is a three way tie for third between Oakland\u2019s<strong> Holly Morren<\/strong>, Wright State\u2019s <strong>Samantha Miller<\/strong> and Milwaukee\u2019s<strong> Amanda Siehs<\/strong>. All three girls touched at 23.22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s 50 Free<\/strong><br \/>\nOakland, again, put four swimmers in the top eight by claiming the first, third, fifth and sixth seed. <strong>Jeremiah Morren<\/strong> from Oakland is seeded first at 20.10, last night in the 200 medley relay Morren split 19.56 on his anchor leg. Wright State\u2019s <strong>Lucas Osgood<\/strong> is seeded second at 20.30 while Oakland\u2019s<strong> Andrew Binder<\/strong> claimed the third seed at 20.48.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Katlynn Emaus, Swimming World College Intern Oakland placed multiple swimmers in the top eight going into finals.
