An interview with Dr. Andrew Chadeayne–owner\/inventor of SwimSpray<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

The sport of swimming offers many opportunities for success both in and out of the water.\u00a0 Many of our sport\u2019s great athletes have gone on to contribute to the sport of swimming long after they have hung up their racing suit through swimming related businesses.\u00a0 This month\u00a0Swimming World\u00a0had a chance to catch up with Andrew Chadeayne, PhD., and learn about his path from the competition pool to the manufacturing floor–and his efforts to raise awareness of how to eliminate chlorine from your hair and skin after you get out the pool.

\nSW: Andrew, when did you first start swimming?<\/strong>
\nAC:\u00a0 I started swim lessons at the Boys\u2019 and Girls Club of Northern Westchester when I was three, and as I grew,\u00a0 I swam year round for their club team–the Marlins.\u00a0 Later, I\u00a0 swam for Princeton all 4 years.<\/p>\n

SW:\u00a0 What was your event? <\/strong>
\nAC:\u00a0\u00a0 At the time, I was a pretty good backstroker.\u00a0 I made Olympic Trials in 2000 and was the top back stroker at Princeton for pretty much my whole time there.<\/p>\n

SW:\u00a0 Did you like swimming?<\/strong>
\nAC:\u00a0\u00a0 I loved swimming.\u00a0 Of course, I went through periods of frustration with the sport, even \u201chating it,\u201d here and there.\u00a0 But, even then, I think I always understood that I loved swimming so much that I couldn\u2019t live without it.<\/p>\n

SW: Tell us some of your favorite memories of club\/age group swimming? <\/strong>
\nAC: I always liked Boys\u2019 and Girl Club Nationals because the team went to Florida in the winter.\u00a0 My best memories are just hanging out with my friends from swimming\u2014pranks, team cheers, card games–really simple stuff.<\/p>\n

SW: Describe yourself as a student, both socially and academically in HS? <\/strong>
\nAC: I didn\u2019t always get good grades in high school. I was really focused on swimming excellence.\u00a0 And nothing I could do in school came close to that level of performance for me.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t until Princeton that I recognized that I could do bigger things than swimming fast.<\/p>\n
