The Metropolitan Conference Championships day two finals were swam this evening. The men’s and women’s 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay were swam. The women’s 200 medley relay and 100 butterfly METS records were broken.<\/p>\n

Women’s Meet<\/strong><\/h2>\n

LIU Post won the\u00a0200 medley relay going a 1:41.49 with their team of\u00a0Seren Jones<\/strong> (25.67), Caitlin Johnstone<\/strong> (29.29),\u00a0Joyce Kwok<\/strong> (23.84) and Meghan Brazier<\/b>\u00a0(22.69). With this time they also broke the previous METS record of 1:42.22. Bridgeport’s team of Yekaterina Gakhokidze<\/strong> (25.42), Jaimy Taskin<\/strong> (30.03), Nina Stegu<\/strong> (24.91) and Tatiana Shepel<\/strong> (22.65) went a 1:43.01 for second place. Ramapo College of NJ came third place (1:48.03) with the team of\u00a0Danielle Bach<\/strong>\u00a0(27.63), Brenda Arthur<\/strong> (30.46), Meghan Trewhella<\/strong> (26.83)\u00a0and Maggie Herbert<\/strong> (23.11).<\/p>\n

In the 400 IM, Karis Fuller<\/strong> of LIU Post took the gold\u00a0with a 4:31.17. Bridgeport’s Claudia Esteban<\/strong>\u00a0finished in second place (4:34.30)) and\u00a0her teammate Annagrazia Bonsanti<\/strong> touched the wall with a 3:39.17 for the bronze.<\/p>\n

Kwok of LIU Post went a 53.32 to win\u00a0the women’s 100 butterfly. With this time she also broke the previous METS record of 53.51. Bridgeport’s Gakhokidze came in second place with a 56.52 and with a 57.15\u00a0Laura Bendfeldt<\/strong> of LIU Post came in third place.<\/p>\n

LIU Post’s Brazier won the women’s 200 free tonight with a 1:51.16.\u00a0<\/strong>Bridgeport’s\u00a0Alja Tavcar<\/strong> came in for silver with a 1:53.53 and Eline Swensen<\/strong> of LIU Post came in third place (1:54.45).<\/p>\n

Johnstone of LIU Post went a 1:05.26 to take gold in\u00a0the 100 breast. Mt. Saint Mary’s Marissa Catania<\/strong>\u00a0placed second with a 1:06.81 and and William Patterson’s \u00a0Vera Blazevska<\/strong> came in third place touching in at a 1:06.98.<\/p>\n

In the 100 back,\u00a0Gakhokidze of Bridgeport won the event tonight with a 55.15. LIU Post’s Jones finished in second place going a 55.21 and\u00a0US Merchant Marine Academy’s Tyler Wickesberg<\/strong>\u00a0took the bronze going a 57.63.<\/p>\n

Bridgeport won the 800 free relay. The team of\u00a0Bonsanti (1:53.56), Clara Mico Gonzalez<\/strong> (1:56.32), Esteban (1:55.63) and Tavcar (1:53.73) went a 7:39.24 for the gold. LIU Post came in second (7:43.22) with Swensen (1:55.56), Johnstone (1:56.99), Bendfeldt (1:54.10) and Karis Fuller<\/strong> (1:56.57). \u00a0Southern Connecticut came in third place with the time of 7:54.54 and the team of\u00a0Katie Crochet<\/strong> (2:00.38), Sydney Fromkin<\/strong> (1:57.89), Jennifer Belanger<\/strong> (1:58.29) and Emily Wolfe<\/strong> (1:57.98).<\/p>\n

Men’s Meet<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Bridgeport won the men’s 200 medley relay. Their team of Brian Kelly<\/strong> (22.83), Ivan Capan<\/strong> (24.17), Didac Matsuyama<\/strong> (21.68) and Will Du Plessis<\/strong> (20.28) went a 1:28.96 for the gold.The College of New Jersey came in second place (1:29.92) with their team of Dante Colucci<\/strong>\u00a0(23.42),\u00a0James Shangle<\/strong>\u00a0(24.63), Joseph Dunn\u00a0<\/strong>(21.77) and Ryan Gajdzisz<\/strong>\u00a0(20.10). Rowan finished in a\u00a01:29.98 for third with the team of Joe Furze<\/strong>\u00a0(23.98), Mikey Simunek<\/b>\u00a0(24.90), Nick Marks<\/b>\u00a0(21.62) and Jesse Novak<\/b>\u00a0(19.48).<\/p>\n

In the men’s 400 IM, Logan Barns from The College of NJ won the event with a 4:02.06. Southern Connecticut’s Louis Geist\u00a0<\/strong>came in for the silver with a 4:04.62 and\u00a0Rowan’s Connor Buck\u00a0<\/strong>went a 4:07.40 for bronze.<\/p>\n

Bridgeport’s Didac Matsuyama<\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0won the men’s 100 butterfly with a 48.43. In a close second was Nick Marks<\/strong> of Rowan who went a 48.81. Bridgeport’s\u00a0Brian Kelly<\/strong> came in third place (49.13).<\/p>\n

Tyler Vander Vos<\/strong> of Southern Connecticut won the men’s 200 free with a 1:40.31. The College of New Jersey took second and third place on the podium. Scott Vitabile<\/strong> came with a 1:40.31 for silver and Ryan Gajdzisz<\/strong>\u00a0took bronze with a 1:40.58.<\/p>\n

In the 100 breaststroke, Bridgeport’s Capan won the event with a 54.78. Shingle form The College of NJ went a 55.22 for second place and Tyler Coe<\/strong> from Rowan finished third (56.27).<\/p>\n

Southern Connecticut’s Raymond Cswerko\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 backstroke tonight in the time of 49.30.\u00a0Bridgeport’s Kelly touched the wall with a\u00a049.50 for second place and his teammate\u00a0Du Plessis,\u00a0came in with a close third going a 49.83.<\/p>\n

The College of New Jersey won the 800 free relay in the time of 6:45.32 and the squad of Philip Binaco<\/strong> (1:42.95), Gajdzisz (1:40.56), Scott Vitable<\/strong> (1:40.41) and Jason Ivins<\/strong> (1:41.40). Rowan came in second (6:50.01) with Anthony Czar<\/strong> (1:41.91), Nate Wojtowicz<\/strong> (1:42.88), Eric Feuerstein<\/strong> (1:42.88) and Paul Long<\/strong> (1:42.34). The US Merchant Marine Academy finished third (7:05.23) with their team of Logan Propst<\/strong> (1:45.37), Kevin Sweetman<\/strong> (1:49.03), Josh Jepsen<\/strong> (1:45.13) and John Terselic<\/strong> (1:45.70).<\/p>\n
