The meet begins Feb. 24.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, NC State won, followed by Louisville\u00a0with Virginia Tech claiming a close third.\u00a0The No. 8 Wolfpack\u00a0will look to win their second-consecutive and 26th overall ACC Championship title, but will face tough competition.<\/p>\n<p>NC State is led by sprint stars\u00a0<strong>Simonas Bilis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Held<\/strong>. Bilis, a senior, will look to win the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles as he did in 2015. Held, a sophomore,\u00a0holds the top time in the conference in the 200 free. Junior\u00a0<strong>Joe Bonk<\/strong> has added even more depth to the NC State powerhouse sprint group.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack continue their dominance in the distance events, as\u00a0<strong>Anton Ipsen\u00a0<\/strong>leads the conference in the three longer freestyle races and also puts up a strong 400 IM.\u00a0The sophomore won the 500 and 1650 last year, and will look to\u00a0reclaim his titles in both.\u00a0The depth the Wolfpack has in each event, combined with\u00a0their stellar relays,\u00a0put them in a good position to defend their ACC title.<\/p>\n<p>No. 10 Louisville will challenge NC State this weekend, especially in the shorter freestyle races.\u00a0<strong>Trevor Carroll<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Matthias Lindenbauer\u00a0<\/strong>both hold some of the fastest times in the conference in the 50, 100, 200, and 500 freestyles,\u00a0making their relays extremely competitive as well. Although they lack depth\u00a0in the distance races,\u00a0<strong>Grigory Tarasevich\u00a0<\/strong>has dominated both backstroke events this season, and\u00a0<strong>Nolan Tesone\u00a0<\/strong>holds the top seeds in both the 200 and 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p>No. 18 Virginia Tech\u00a0was only 55.5 points behind Louisville last year.\u00a0<strong>Brandon Fiala\u00a0<\/strong>leads Virginia Tech this season in both breaststrokes, and the 2015 ACC Champion in the 200 IM will look to reclaim his title. Despite the graduation of some key seniors, the Hokies will rely on Fiala,\u00a0<strong>Robert Owen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Michal\u00a0<\/strong><b>Szuba<\/b>, and\u00a0<strong>Lucas Bureau\u00a0<\/strong>to keep them in the running.<\/p>\n<p>Men&#8217;s diving competed last weekend at the Women&#8217;s ACC Championships. Miami&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Briadam Herrera <\/strong>won both\u00a0the 1m (436.60) and\u00a03m (440.00), and Georgia Tech&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brad Homza\u00a0<\/strong>won the platform (436.25).<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s diving will be added into the team scores. With this, Virginia Tech will begin the swimming portion of the meet with 247 points.
