women&#8217;s 100-yard breaststroke ever during night 3 at the 2016 Big Ten Women&#8217;s Championships.<\/p>\n<p>A superior 100 backstroke event that netted more than 100 points for Michigan as the Wolverines headed into the final day with a leading tally of 891 points. \u00a0Indiana had a seriously strong day, but could not withstand the 100 back onslaught as the Hoosiers held second with 845.5 points.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota, thanks to a huge effort on the diving boards, moved into third with 612.5 points. \u00a0Ohio State (577) and Purdue (498.5) held fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Penn State (474.5), Wisconsin (462), Nebraska (326.5), Northwestern (309), Rutgers (260), Iowa (248.5), Michigan State (175) and Illinois (168) comprised the rest of the scores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lilly King Race night in the Big Ten title race.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marie Chamberlain<\/strong> (52.53), <strong>Lilly King<\/strong> (57.64), <strong>Gia Dalesandro<\/strong> (51.74) and <strong>Kennedy Goss<\/strong> (48.26) won the finale in a time of 3:30.17. \u00a0That swim cleared IU&#8217;s Big Ten record of 3:30.30 set back in 2014, while also crushing its own pool mark of 3:31.26 from 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan&#8217;s <strong>Clara Smiddy<\/strong> (52.03), <strong>Emily Kopas<\/strong> (59.62), <strong>Siobhan Haughey<\/strong> (52.61) and<strong> Ali DeLoof<\/strong> (47.72) mitigated the team points damage done by IU with a second-place 3:31.98. \u00a0Ohio State&#8217;s <strong>Halime Zeren<\/strong> (53.95), <strong>Taylor Vargo<\/strong> (1:00.36), <strong>Li Shaughnessy<\/strong> back in 2009. \u00a0Her time also cleared the NCAA A cut in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota&#8217;s <strong>Brooke Zeiger<\/strong> finished second in 4:08.18 with Michigan&#8217;s <strong>Bi Yirong<\/strong> earning third in 4:08.56.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan stretched its lead to 543.5 to 535.5 against Indiana. \u00a0Minnesota pulled into third with 409.5 points, Ten title on the night when <strong>Li Zhesi<\/strong> raced her way to a 51.77 for her second individual title of the meet as well. \u00a0She already won the 50 free last night. \u00a0Her time tonight just missed her pool record prelim time of 51.72.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana&#8217;s <strong>Gia Dalesandro<\/strong> led a huge Hoosier event with a second-place 52.42. The Hoosiers scored nearly 70 points in the event. \u00a0Minnesota&#8217;s <strong>Danielle Nack<\/strong> finished third overall in 52.64.<\/p>\n<p>With the huge point swing, Indiana took a 600.5 to 563.5 lead against Michigan, but the 100 back looms large later this evening with Michigan having four A finalists. \u00a0Minnesota (442.5), Ohio State (423) and Wisconsin (378.5) held third through fifth after the event.<\/p>\n<pre><b>                            === A -
