BAKERSFIELD, California, July 20. A total of four meet records met their end during the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Bakersfield today.<\/p>\n
Presley Bard of Terrapins demolished the meet record in the women's 100 back. Bard, who swims for Indiana University collegiately, clocked a time of 1:01.67 to crush the 1:03.99 set by Lauren Rogers in 2005. Ashley Vrieze of De Anza Cupertino also surpassed the previous record with a second-place 1:03.29. Deborah Roth, 15, of North Bay placed third in 1:04.38.<\/p>\n
The men's 100 back also featured a meet record. Vladimir Morozov touched in 57.12 to beat Louis Vayo's 58.07 from 2005. Matt Benoit took second in 59.21, while Nic Trowbridge finished third in 59.30.<\/p>\n
Kate Dwelley of Terrapins provided a sub-1:00 effort in the women's 100 fly to lower her meet record of 1:00.45 set last year. Dwelley posted a 59.73 to win, while Hannah Wilson of California finished second in 1:00.59 and Ursi Dailey, 17, of Fog City snagged third in 1:02.20.<\/p>\n
Sara Sun of Swim Pasadena opened the day with a win in the women's 1500 free in 17:13.46. Aislinn Smalling of Class Aquatics took second in 17:24.12, while Tristin Baxter, 16, finished third in 17:29.44.<\/p>\n
The men's metric mile featured John Mendoza of La Mirada Armada winning in 15:57.14. Andrew Deters touched second in 16:01.77, while Jon Daniec, 15, of Mission Viejo wound up third in 16:14.97.<\/p>\n
Paige Bradley, 17, touched out Jordan Danny, 16, 1:11.75 to 1:11.90, in the women's 100 breast, while Shaila Yoder, 17, completed the top three in 1:12.88.<\/p>\n
Cody Miller, 16, of Clark County captured the men's 100 breast in 1:05.86 with John Dwelley of Terrapins (1:06.24) and Jon Denton-Schneider, 17, of North Bay (1:06.44) placing second and third.<\/p>\n
Dwelley came back in the men's 100 fly to win in 55.76. Tom Shields, 17, of Nova placed second in 56.36 with Danny McClary of Gaucho taking third in 56.54.<\/p>\n
The 400 medley relays concluded the night. Vrieze, Eva Chen, Hayes Hyde and Madeline Schaefer won the women's crown in 4:21.25, while Terrapins Colin Hanna, Sean Mahoney, Dwelley and Aaron Wayne snared the men's title in 3:51.36.
