Headed into Day 3 prelims of the Coastal Collegiate\u00a0Swimming and Diving Championships\u00a0the FGCU women and Incarnate Word men are in the lead.<\/p>\n

Last night’s performance started with the 500 yard freestyle. Senior from Florida Gulf Coast, Lani Cabrera won the event with a 4:47.53 beating the meet record. She missed the CCSA record by only .10. Teammate Linda Shaw clocked in with a 4:48.17, a huge drop from prelims swim of 4:52.38. In third place was Liberty senior, Kristin VanDeventer\u00a0(4:52.00).<\/p>\n

The Florida Gulf Coast women took over the 200 IM. They scored all top three finished. Freshman, Fanny Teijonsalo crushed the meet record in the 200IM. She\u00a0clocked in with a time of 1:58.29, about a two second drop from prelims. Close behind was teammate Barbara Caraballo, also sub 2:00, with a \u00a0time of 1:59.64. Christina Elmgreen finished third with a time of 2:01.02.<\/p>\n

The 50 freestyle was the third event on Day 2 of the CCSA. It was an extremley close race. First place was won by freshman Katie Latham from FGCU with a time of 22.64. Following only .03 behind was Kendall Hough. These two battled it out in prelims too and went into finals seeded only .01 in difference. Liberty teammate Rachel Hoeve finished third with, dropping .01 from prelims and going under a 23.00 (22.99).<\/p>\n

Florida Gulf Coast won the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:30.62. Second place went to Liberty with a 1:31.08.<\/p>\n

On the Men’s side going into prelims, Incarnate Word\u00a0is in first place.<\/p>\n

Last night’s\u00a0 500 freestyle was won by Kyrylo Shvets of Incarnate Word. With a large drop from prelims, he swam a 4:25.52. Felix Richtsfeld of UMB got second place with a 4:26.26. Teammate Connor Hennessy followed close behind with a 4:27.84.<\/p>\n

The 200 yard IM was a close race in prelims. At finals, David Moore of Incarnate Word went away with the win with a time of 1:45.68. \u00a0Second place went to\u00a0UMBC’s Nikola Trajkovic with a time of 1:46.63. Monarch swimmer Reed Matthews got third place with a time of 1:47.14.<\/p>\n

The men’s 50 yard freestyle was won by Nathan Lile from Gardner-Webb, breaking 20.00 and going a 19.98. Second place was Jacob Zeidler from Old Dominion (20.26). Third place was a tine. Both from Florida Atlantic, Matthieu Burtez and John Nolte swam a 20.46.<\/p>\n

The 200 yard freestyle relay was won by Gardner-Webb with a time of 1:20.07, just around a second off of the meet record. Close bending was Old Dominion.<\/p>\n
