BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, July 18. THE assembled swimmers at the USA Swimming Sectional held on the campus of Indiana University took dead aim at the meet record book.<\/p>\n
Jenny Connolly of Boilermaker broke the women's 100 back title with a time of 1:02.71. She surpassed the 1:03.10 set by Ava Ohlgren last year. Kate McNeilis, 16, of Westerville earned second in 1:03.19, while Ariel Martin of Boilermaker finished third in 1:05.08.<\/p>\n
Kevin Swander of IU then dropped the men's 100 breast record twice. First, he clocked a time of 1:03.36 during prelims to break Elliott Keefer's standard of 1:03.86 from earlier this year. Swander then touched out Mike Alexandrov of Wildcat Aquatics, 1:02.21 to 1:02.53, in the finale. Brad Craig rounded out the top three in 1:03.55.<\/p>\n
Both 400 medley relay records also tumbled. Cara Lennon, Abby Cooper, Sarah Tanner and Alex Norris of Cincinnati Marlins broke the team's 2005 record of 4:23.68 with a time of 4:19.85.<\/p>\n
Boilermaker's Andre Koop, Nate Taylor, Andrew Langenfeld and John Schmitt then clocked a time of 3:50.25 in the men's race to beat the 3:50.73 set by Washington Township back in 2003.<\/p>\n
In other action, Doug Spraul of the Cincinnati Marlins won the men's 100 back in 57.34 with Jon Larocque of Capital Area (58.92) and Adam Isaacs of Northern Kentucky Clippers (59.46) finished second and third.<\/p>\n
Jacy Dyer of Greater Toledo snagged the women's 400 free title in 4:17.22, while Amanda Smith of the Mason Manta Rays (4:20.91) and Cassie Luhrsen of Indiana University (4:22.96) comprised the rest of the top three.<\/p>\n
Shane Lichtenberg of the Oakland Live Y'ers captured the men's 400 free in 4:00.03, while Titus Knight of Indiana University finished second in 4:01.48. Teammate Steffan Troxel touched third in 4:03.35.<\/p>\n
Catherine Eitel, 17, of Westerville clinched the women's 100 breast in 1:13.84. Lydia Hackert of Washington Township (1:14.10) and Missy Robinson, 16, of Sugar Creek (1:14.23) snared second and third.<\/p>\n
Smith turned her 400 free silver into gold with a 2:16.36 in the women's 200 fly. IU's Brittany Barwegen touched second in 2:18.91, while Monica Tung, 17, of Great Lakes took third in 2:19.21.<\/p>\n
