BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, July 16. THE first night of USA Swimming Sectional action came to a close at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington.<\/p>\n
Greater Toledo's Jacy Dyer opened the night with a victory in the women's 800 free. She touched in 8:46.29, while Team Pittsburgh's Katie Cutrell finished second in 9:01.07. Indiana University's Amilee Smith wound up third in 9:04.45.<\/p>\n
Ellen Williamson, 15, of the Northern Kentucky Clippers won the women's 200 back in a close one with a time of 2:19.12. Dayton Raider Sarah Andrews placed second in 2:19.69, while Ohio State's Jill Lockhart took third in 2:19.99.<\/p>\n
The men's 200 back title went to Eric Nilsson of Wildcat Swimming in 2:05.75. Adam Isaacs of Northern Kentucky Clippers touched second in 2:07.21, while Andre Koop of Boilermaker snagged third in 2:07.51.<\/p>\n
Jenny Connolly of Boilermaker, usually a backstroke specialist, grabbed the splash-and-dash crown with a time of 26.62 in the women's 50 free. Sarah Stockwell of Indiana University took second in 26.78, while Zoe Mattingly, 14, of Zionsville Swimming tied Maggie Walker of Team Pittsburgh for third in 27.09.<\/p>\n
Boilermaker won again, this time when Andrew Langenfeld clocked a men's 50 free time of 22.90. Bryan Chovanec of IU finished second in 23.36, while John Geissinger of Piranha Swimming touched third in 23.59.<\/p>\n
Colby Ward of the Oakland Live Y'ers touched out teammate Dane Vanderkaay, 16:00.38 to 16:00.44, in an epic battle in the men's 1500 free. The duo far surpassed third-place Matt Columbus, who clocked a time of 16:07.71 representing the Cincinnati Marlins.<\/p>\n
Ohio State's Colleen Schweitzer took the women's 200 breast title with a time of 2:38.67. Stephanie O'Toole, 13, of Fox Chapel, snared second in 2:39.11, while Lydia Hackert of Washington Township finished third in 2:39.53.<\/p>\n
