The 2016 Hawaii High School State Championships dove into action this weekend with Punahou winning both the boys and girls first place trophies.<\/p>\n
Punahou jumped to a quick lead in the 200 medley relay with the quad of\u00a0Lia Foster\u00a0<\/strong>(27.00),\u00a0Maddie Balish<\/strong> (29.00),\u00a0Lyra Gonzalez<\/strong> (26.97), and\u00a0Natassia Dunn<\/strong> (24.12) posting a combined time of 1:47.09. Kamehameha Schools Kapalama finished second with a time of 1:49.13, while third went to Kaiser and their time of 1:49.93.<\/p>\n Foster grabbed her second win of the meet in the 200 IM posting a final time of 2:06.37. Moanalua’s\u00a0Aimee Iwamoto<\/strong> finished second overall with a time of 2:09.26 just ahead of Kaiser’s\u00a0Lari Yasumi<\/strong>‘s 2:09.44.<\/p>\n Le Jardin’s\u00a0Clancy Doyle<\/strong> took first in the 50 free with a final time of 24.00.<\/p>\n Cagla Brennan<\/strong> of Iolina just barely missed\u00a0Rebecca Walton’s\u00a0<\/strong>state record of 4:56.29 in the 500 free, posting a final time of 4:56.95. Punahou’s\u00a0Nohea Lileikis<\/strong> finished second with a time of 5:01.24.<\/p>\n Foster dashed ahead of the competition in the 100 back to finish first with a time of 57.06.<\/p>\n Balish collected two individual wins in the 100 fly (56.89) and 100 breast (1:03.45).<\/p>\n Jacob Cornish<\/strong> of Punahou neared the state record of 581.10 in the one meter diving with a final score of 576.80.<\/p>\n Aukai Lileikis\u00a0<\/strong>of Punahou bettered his own state record in the 200 free, lowering it from 1:35.62 to 1:35.35 in prelims before setting the new mark at 1:34.82. The senior finished eight seconds ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n Lileikis’ record-breaking streak continued into the 100 free where he posted a time of 44.02 to take down\u00a0Kanoa Kaleoaloha’s\u00a0<\/strong>2015 record of 44.70.
