﻿{"id":185056,"date":"2016-02-13T18:40:37","date_gmt":"2016-02-14T01:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=185056"},"modified":"2016-02-13T18:59:41","modified_gmt":"2016-02-14T01:59:41","slug":"2016-utah-high-school-state-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2016-utah-high-school-state-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 Utah High School State Championships: Park City and Skyline Take 3A and 4A Titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Lillian Nelson, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On the third and final day out at Brigham Young&#8217;s aquatic center for the 2016 Utah High School State Championships, the second halves of both the\u00a0<strong>3A<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>4A<\/strong> classifications have come to a close.<\/p>\n<p>Starting off the morning was part two of the 3A classification.<\/p>\n<p>Individual event winners of this session include\u00a0<strong>Katelyn Gross\u00a0<\/strong>(57.70) and\u00a0<strong>Lucas Hess\u00a0<\/strong>(51.55)\u00a0in the 100 Butterfly,\u00a0<strong>Rozie Selznick\u00a0<\/strong>(52.43) and\u00a0<strong>Nathan Wallace<\/strong>\u00a0(46.55)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0100 Freestyle,\u00a0<strong>Sienna Senn<\/strong>\u00a0(5:03.11)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Cole Peterson<\/strong>\u00a0(4:58.22)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0500 Freestyle,\u00a0<strong>Mara Selznick\u00a0<\/strong>(57.70) and\u00a0<strong>Jinwon Bailar<\/strong>\u00a0(51.32)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0100 Backstroke, and\u00a0<strong>Joelle Hess\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.23)\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Felix Weingartner<\/strong>\u00a0(1:02.25)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0100 Breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 200 Freestyle Relay was a close race that ultimately ended with\u00a0<strong>Park City High School<\/strong> (<strong>Senn<\/strong>, <strong>Beller<\/strong>, <strong>Hale<\/strong>, and <strong>Selznick<\/strong>) touching first (1:38.18), only a fraction of a second ahead of\u00a0<strong>Cedar City High School\u00a0<\/strong>(Gross, McQuivey, Ruhr, and Gross) with their time of 1:38.70.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Park City High School<\/strong> (<strong>Hess<\/strong>, <strong>Hess<\/strong>, <strong>Yokubison<\/strong>, and <strong>Bailar<\/strong>) also took the Men&#8217;s 200 Freestyle Relay title with a time of 1:28.13, ahead of <strong>Canyon View High School\u00a0<\/strong>(<strong>Florence<\/strong>, <strong>Edwards<\/strong>, <strong>Anderson<\/strong>, and <strong>Wallace<\/strong>) at 1:31.09 and <strong>Juan Diego High School\u00a0<\/strong>(<strong>McKenzie<\/strong>, <strong>Stolfa<\/strong>, <strong>Greer<\/strong>, and <strong>Gustat<\/strong>) at 1:32.17.<\/p>\n<p>The 400 Freestyle relays were also dominated by Park City High School&#8217;s men and women. The ladies (<strong>Senn<\/strong>, <strong>Selznick<\/strong>, <strong>Beller<\/strong>, and <strong>Selznick<\/strong>) came in with a time of 3:35.57, and the men (<strong>Hess<\/strong>, <strong>Hess<\/strong>, <strong>Peterson<\/strong>, and <strong>Yokubison<\/strong>) took the title with a time of 3:15.12.<\/p>\n<p>The overall team scores resulted in victories in the 3A classification for Park City High School&#8217;s men at 465 points and women at 493 points.<\/p>\n<p>The 4A classification took the pool next with some speedy swims to finish off their half of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>Individual event winners include\u00a0<strong>Becca Goodson\u00a0<\/strong>(59.70) and\u00a0<strong>Adam Shelton<\/strong>\u00a0(50.91)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0100 Butterfly,\u00a0<strong>Aleah Griffin<\/strong>\u00a0(54.22)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Brigham Harrison\u00a0<\/strong>(46.25)\u00a0in the 100 Freestyle,\u00a0<strong>Makayla Cazier\u00a0<\/strong>(5:02.94) and\u00a0<strong>Jaron Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>(4:40.70)\u00a0in the 500 Freestyle,\u00a0<strong>Zoe Plillips\u00a0<\/strong>(57.68) and\u00a0<strong>Talmage Corey<\/strong>\u00a0(53.32)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0100 Backstroke, and\u00a0<strong>Madelyn Flower\u00a0<\/strong>(1:04.80) and\u00a0<strong>Wyatt Graham<\/strong>\u00a0(58.73)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in the\u00a0100 Breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skyline High School\u00a0<\/strong>took both titles in the 200 Freestyle Relays. On the women&#8217;s side, Skyline&#8217;s team of <strong>Brooks<\/strong>, <strong>Bills<\/strong>, <strong>Dibble<\/strong>, and <strong>Griffin<\/strong> touched at 1:40.51. On the men&#8217;s side, Skyline&#8217;s team of <strong>Shelton<\/strong>, <strong>Wang<\/strong>, <strong>Mosteller<\/strong>, and <strong>Beseris<\/strong> touched at 1:27.14.<\/p>\n<p>Skyline came back again in the 400 Freestyle Relays, taking both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s titles to finish off the weekend.
