Westminster Senior Matthew Baurle<\/strong> had a fantastic morning in the last preliminary session of the President’s Athletic Conference. He grabbed the top seed in the 200 breaststroke, breaking his own Pool and PAC meet record from 2013, and Ben Gutmann’s<\/strong> 2010 PAC open record. The swim set himself up with a near 8 second lead going into tonight. Kevin Dunigan<\/strong> of Washington and Jefferson College followed for the second seed in 2:09.11, while Adam Smale<\/strong> will go in third with a 2:10.04 morning swim.<\/p>\n

On the women’s side, Megan Smith<\/strong> of Grove City claimed the top spot with a time of 2:26.27. She was followed by Samantha Tower<\/strong> of Westminster who swam a 2:27.92, while Sara Peace<\/strong> was third in 2:29.63.<\/p>\n

In the women’s 200 back the top three women set themselves up for an exciting race tonight. Rachel Murphy<\/strong> of Washington and Jefferson will go in with the fastest swim, clocking a 2:13.10. Maddie VanDyke<\/strong> of Grove City was only a tenth of a second behind, swimming a 2:13.28, while Alexis Glenn<\/strong> of Washington and Jefferson followed with a 2:13.72.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, freshman David Peffer<\/strong> of Westminster sets himself up for another win with a prelim swim of 1:52.58. Nicholas Willison<\/strong> of Washington and Jefferson followed in 1:53.79, while Cheyne Stresky<\/strong> of Bethany swam a 1:54.86.<\/p>\n

The top three women in the 100 free will have an exciting race, with just .15 seconds separating them. Marissa Frollo<\/strong> of Saint Vincent claimed the top spot with a 53.04, while Aureli Sheehan<\/strong> of Chatham beat out Maddie Bartrug<\/strong> of Saint Vincent by one-hundredth of a second (53.18, 53.19 respectively)<\/p>\n

In the men’s 100 free, Mitch Stahara<\/strong> of Westminster will go in with the top seed with a swim of 46.21 this morning. Jacob Davis<\/strong> of Saint Vincent followed in 46.78, while Michael Spencer<\/strong> of Westminster was third in 47.90.<\/p>\n

Megan Douds<\/strong> claimed the top seed in the women’s 200 fly by over two seconds, swimming a 2:09.82. Ama Hutzelmann<\/strong> of Grove City was second in 2:11.73, while Katherine Guevara<\/strong> of Saint Vincent was third in 2:17.32.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, Nick Roth<\/strong> of Penn State Behrend will go into the 200 fly first tonight with a time of 1:55.53. Brad Kolesar<\/strong> of Westminster was a close second with a swim of 1:55.78, while Jeremy Kim<\/strong> of Grove City was third in 1:56.60.<\/p>\n

In the preliminary swim of the final relay of the meet Washington and Jefferson College claimed the women’s top spot in the 400 free relay, with the team of Alexis Glenn<\/strong> (54.12) Rachel Nye<\/strong> (58.03) Madison Babicka<\/strong> (55.26) and Jenny Matuszewski<\/strong> (56.26) combining for a time of 3:43.67. Chatham followed in 3:44.35, while Grove City College was a close third in 3:44.64.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, Washington and Jefferson College also claimed the top seed with the group of Willison (48.40) Dunigan (49.39) Zachary Lauer<\/strong> (49.44) and Gordy Schroeder<\/strong> (48.30) coming together for a 3:15.53 which was just enough to outtouch Penn State Behrend’s team which swam a 3:15.78. Westminster was third in 3:17.79.<\/p>\n

All but the top eight of men and women swimming the 1650 will compete\u00a0this afternoon, while the top heats will swim in finals tonight. The last session of the meet will be kicking off tonight at 6. Results can be found at Meet Mobile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
