The \u00a02016 TISCA Tennessee High School Swimming and Diving Championships kicked off today in Nashville with some sizzling swims.<\/p>\n
The relay team of Abbey Autry, Lauren Mabie, Kiara Norris\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Alison MacQueen\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0St. Mary’s kicked off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay of 1:45.17. Girls’ Prepatory School (1:47.12) and Brentwood High School\u00a0tied for second with a time of 1:47.12.<\/p>\n Erica Laning<\/strong> of Hardin Valley Academy took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.36.\u00a0Allison Raab<\/strong> of Brentwood was a close second with a time of 1:48.85.<\/p>\n The girls 200 IM proved to be an exciting race with the top two finishers under the previous state record of 2:00.08 set in 2014 by Annie Kryiakidis.\u00a0<\/strong>Harpeth Hall’s\u00a0Ella Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>posted a final time of 1:59.45 to get under the state record, but\u00a0Tatum Wade<\/strong> of Christ Presbyterian Academy notched the record at a sizzling 1:57.87.<\/p>\n The female sprinters kept it close in the 50 free with the top three finishers touching within .29 of one another.\u00a0Sarah Thompson<\/strong> of St. George’s Ind. School claimed the gold with a time of 23.34. Hillsboro’s\u00a0Mary Brakefield\u00a0<\/strong>finished close behind with a 23.39 for second, while third went to\u00a0Heather Kudialis\u00a0<\/strong>of Science Hill.<\/p>\n Station Camp’s\u00a0Riley Gaines\u00a0<\/strong>dashed to first in the girls 100 fly posting a final time of 54.59 to be the only athlete under the 55-second mark. MacQueen turned in a time of 55.37 for second, while third was claimed by\u00a0Zoe Whelan<\/strong> of St. Agnes Academy and her time of 56.90.<\/p>\n It was a fight to the finish in the boys 200 medley relay with the top three finishers posting times within .72 seconds of each other. It was the boys of Memphis University School who got their hand to the wall first though. The team of\u00a0Alex Robinson, Parker Kaye, Jack McCaghren<\/strong> and\u00a0CJ Turner\u00a0<\/strong>posted a combined time of 1:31.27 to secure the win. Second was Science Hill with a 1:31.65.<\/p>\n Trey Freeman<\/strong> of The Baylor School delivered a sizzling 1:36.70 in the boys 200 free to not only win the event but to also post the second fastest 200 free by a 15-and-under, only\u00a0Grant House\u00a0<\/strong>sits ahead of him with a 1:35.84 from 2014.<\/p>\n Science Hill’s\u00a0Daniel Chang<\/strong> grabbed the win in the boys 200 IM by a whopping 4.79 seconds, finishing with a time of 1:46.52.\u00a0Alex Hines<\/strong> of L&N STEM Academy took second with a time of 1:51.31, while McCallie’s\u00a0Jon Ransom<\/strong> was third with a 1:51.96.<\/p>\n Christian Berry<\/strong> and\u00a0Henry Keel<\/strong> delivered a 1-2 finish for Memphis University School in the boys 50 free with times of 20.48 and 20.58 respectively.<\/p>\n Caleb Harrington<\/strong> of Bearden High School posted a final time of 48.74 to take gold in the boys 100 fly.
