At the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship, day two finals tonight, a total of seven GLVC records were broken on both the men and women’s side.<\/p>\n

The night started off strong with the 200 freestyle relay, where the GLVC record was broken by both men and women. Truman’s women’s team of Evyn Spencer<\/strong> (23.35), Jamie Fitzpatrick<\/strong> (23.46), Alison Strickler<\/strong> (23.23) and Nikki Sisson<\/strong> (22.78) went a 1:32.82 breaking the previous GLVC record of 1:33.65. Drury came in second going a 1:33.66 with the team of Vera Johansson<\/strong> (23.79), Tessa Tilton<\/strong> (24.24), Janice Poon<\/strong> (23.55) and Wen Xu<\/strong> (22.08). UINDY’s team of Stefanie Haholiades<\/strong> (23.75), Malvina Choukri<\/strong> (23.66), Laura Bem<\/strong> (24.25) and Hannah Schuster<\/strong> (23.78) came in third place (1:35.44).<\/p>\n

The men’s 200 freestyle relay record was also broken tonight. Drury’s team of Daniel Rzadkowski<\/strong> (20.23), Aaron Buckingham<\/strong> (20.03), Walter Ross<\/strong> (20.74) and Rodrigo Caceres<\/strong> (19.58) broke the previous GLVC record of 1:20.74 with a 1:20.58. Missouri S&T came in a very close second place (1:20.76) with the team of Dakota Anderson<\/strong> (20.63), Keith Sponsler<\/strong> (19.78), Jonathan Glaser<\/strong> (19.81) and Morgan Meyer<\/strong> (20.54). The squad of Adam Wise<\/strong> (20.69), Daniel Szakovits<\/strong> (21.12), Tommy Corner<\/strong> (19.94) and Aidan Brennan<\/strong> (20.61) of Lewis University touched in for the bronze.<\/p>\n

Both 400 IM records were broken tonight as well. In the women’s 400 IM Drury’s\u00a0Gretchen Stein<\/strong>\u00a0won the event in a time of 4:22.75; this broke her own 2014 GLVC record of 4:24.18. Stein’s teammate Sophia Nelson<\/strong> finished in a\u00a04:29.71 for the silver and\u00a0Agnieszka Malecka<\/strong>\u00a0finished placed third (4:01.40).<\/p>\n

Will Shanel<\/strong>\u00a0won the men’s 400 IM for Truman State. He went a 3:48.56 to crush his 2015 GLVC record of 3:51.16.\u00a0UINDY’s\u00a0George Oancea<\/strong>\u00a0snuck in for the silver (3:59.41) out touching Lewis’\u00a0Quinn Poti\u00a0<\/strong>who finished in third with a 3:59.86.<\/p>\n

Drury’s\u00a0Vera Johansson<\/strong>\u00a0out touched, Evyn Spencer, to win the event in a 54.80. Spencer came in a close second place with the time of 45.83 for Truman. Paige Meredith<\/strong>\u00a0touched in at a 55.38 for the bronze.<\/p>\n

Stanislav Kuzmin<\/strong>\u00a0from Drury bested his morning swim to win the men’s 100 butterfly in a 48.96. Kuzmin’s teammate Caceres came in second (49.17) and Missouri S&T’s\u00a0Eirik Nielsen<\/strong>\u00a0finished third in a 49.24.<\/p>\n

Both the men’s and women’s GLVC 200 freestyle records went down tonight.\u00a0Wen Xu<\/strong>\u00a0of Drury broke her pervious GLVC record (1:49.17) with a 1:48.72 and won the event.\u00a0Truman’s Sission came in second place with a 1:50.81 and\u00a0Sarah Pullen<\/strong>\u00a0from Drury finished in third with a 1:52.20.<\/p>\n

Sponsler of Missouri S&T won the men’s 200 freestyle and broke his own GLVC record of 1:36.57 by three one hundredths of a second with a 1:36.54. Teammate Jonathan Glaser<\/strong> took the silver with a 1:37.43 and Drury’s\u00a0Daniel Rzadkowski<\/strong>\u00a0came touched the wall third for the bronze with a 1:37.84.<\/p>\n

The women’s 400 medley relay was won by Drury’s team of Abby Lunzmann<\/strong> (57.73), Zuzanna Chwadeczeko<\/strong> (1:01.58), Vera Johansson (54.05) and Wex Xu (49.23) in the time of 3:42.59. Truman came in second (3:50.61) with the squad of Grace Fodor<\/strong> (57.10), Ally Neumann<\/strong> (1:04.89), Hannah Nicks<\/strong> (56.51) and Jamie Fitzpatrick<\/strong> (52.11). With the time of 3:52.82, UINDY’s Agnieszka Malecka<\/strong> (57.86), Michelle Mikaelsson<\/strong> (1:04.93), Madeleine Leger<\/strong> (57.97) and Madeline Mahoney<\/strong> (53.06) came in third place.<\/p>\n

Drury’s men’s team also won the 400 medley relay. Ramiro Olivares<\/strong> (49.65), Jesus Flores<\/strong> (54.46), Stanislav Kuzmin<\/strong> (47.64) and Daniel Rzadkowski (43.27) went a 3:15.02 and with this time broke the GLVC record of 3:15.21. Missouri S&T finished close behind them in a 3:15.34; the team of Ethan Shih<\/strong> (50.23), Miguel Chavez<\/strong> (53.26), Eirik Nielsen<\/strong> (48.78) and Keith Sponsler (43.07) came in second. Lewis University’s Mads Knoblauch<\/strong> (49.81), Zach Ballon<\/strong> (54.99), Colin Williams<\/strong> (48.88) and Adam Wise (44.19) came in third (3:17.87).<\/p>\n
