After only one session, the Washington and Lee men and women are already setting themselves up to repeat their conference titles.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s Meet<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Elisabeth Holmes\u00a0<\/strong>of Washington and Lee\u00a0crushed her own ODAC meet record (5:08.49) in the 500 freestyle this morning, finishing in a time of 5:05.20. She will be chasing the ODAC Open record tonight (5:03.57), set in 1999. Her teammate,\u00a0<strong>Jordan Watson\u00a0<\/strong>finished third (5:12.68), while Randolph-Macon&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kata Kylliainen\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the second seed (5:11.07).<\/p>\n<p>The Washington and Lee women took the first top seed of the day. The team of\u00a0<strong>Abigail Sterns<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Shannon Belforti<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Cassidy Fuller<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Kira Tomenchok\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock at 1:38.72. Emory and Henry&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nicole Powell<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Taylor Guardalabene<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Marina Moore<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Adaire Brewer\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 1:41.95 for second. Randolph Macon (1:42.59) rounded out the top three with the team of\u00a0<strong>Rachel Leigh<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Amanda Bengston<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Oteyza<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Megan Granger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The General women went on to take the top three seeds in the 200 IM. <strong>Emily Roll<\/strong>o (2:08.32), <strong>Emma Swabb<\/strong> (2:09.03), and <strong>Haylee Rademann<\/strong> (2:12.41) will race in the center of the pool tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Emory and Henry claimed a top seed in the 50 freestyle.\u00a0<strong>Jessica Richardson\u00a0<\/strong>clocked in at 24.17, ahead of Washington and Lee&#8217;s <strong>Stephanie Foster<\/strong> (24.18) and <strong>Sarah Schaffer<\/strong> (24.20).<\/p>\n<p>In this morning&#8217;s 400 medley relay, the Generals swam Sterns,\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Gardner<\/strong>, Tomenchok, and Belforti to earn a top seeded time of 4:03.35. Emory and Henry&#8217;s Moore,\u00a0<strong>Brianna Chessock<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nicole Powell<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Kelsey Jones\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 4:13.64. Bridgewater College was third with a time of 4:28.63, behind the swims of\u00a0<strong>Emily Carr<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Jenna Walmer<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Gabrielle Harbour<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Sammie Arnold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s Meet<\/h2>\n<p>Washington and Lee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tommy Thetford\u00a0<\/strong>crushed his own ODAC meet and open records (20.47, 20.10), finishing the 50 freestyle in 19.70 this morning. This was a tenth under the NCAA A cut, as well. His teammate <strong>Andrew Botelho\u00a0<\/strong>(21.62) claimed third.\u00a0<strong>Mohamed Saleh\u00a0<\/strong>from Randolph-Macon was second (21.30).<\/p>\n<p>It was the Randolph-Macon men who were first to the wall in their 200 freestyle relay. Saleh,\u00a0<strong>Alex Daube<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Daniel Whitehead<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Robert Redenz\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock at 1:26.42.\u00a0<strong>John Carmody<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Thomas Agostini<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Sam Childress<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Harrison Westgarth\u00a0<\/strong>finished second for Washington and Lee (1:27.90). Hampden-Sydney&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Calvin Charles<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Hudson Elmore<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>John Dickerson<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Mitchell\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three (1:34.25).<\/p>\n<p>The General men claimed the top six seeds in the 500 freestyle. Childress (4:45.07), Agostini (4:47.47) and <strong>Alex Fox<\/strong> (4:49.41) will be racing for the title and meet record (4:43.75) tonight. That record is held by <strong>Thomas Caldwell<\/strong>, who finished fourth (4:49.52) this morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ivan Fadeyev<\/strong> of Randolph-Macon earned lane four for the 200 IM tonight, finishing in a time of 1:54.96. Washington and Lee teammates\u00a0<strong>Thomas Ferguson\u00a0<\/strong>(1:55.33) and\u00a0<strong>Patrick Lawrence\u00a0<\/strong>(1:55.77) followed for second and third.<\/p>\n<p>It will be a two team race in the 400 medley relay tonight. Washington and Lee&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Patrick LAwrence<\/strong>,\u00a0Westgarth, Ferguson, and\u00a0<strong>Austin Jennings\u00a0<\/strong>clocked a 3:34.88. Hampden-Sydney&#8217;s Elmore, Dickerson,\u00a0<strong>Conor O&#8217;Heir<\/strong>, and Mitchell earned second (3:49.96).
