There were significant time drops across events, including a new NESCAC meet record.<\/p>\n<p>The morning opened with incredibly close 200 freestyle relays. Williams&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Megan Pierce<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lauren Jones<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Faye Sultan<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Breanna Nguyen<\/strong> posted a 1:35.58 to claim the top seed. Bates (1:37.20) earned the second seed with the team of\u00a0<strong>Sarah Daher<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Lindsey Prelgovisk<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Whitney Paine<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Caroline Depew<\/strong>. Amherst&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Katie Smith<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Zoe Pappas<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dorit Song<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Conklin\u00a0<\/strong>earned third (1:35.95).<\/p>\n<p>The NESCAC competes\u00a0the 50s of stroke. In prelim action, the top three swimmers all finished under the 30 second marker in the 50 breastsroke. Bowdoin&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mariah Rawding\u00a0<\/strong>lead the way (29.57). Williams&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Olivia Clark\u00a0<\/strong>finished second (29.75) while Bates&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Kristy Prelgovisk\u00a0<\/strong>earned the third seed (29.78).<\/p>\n<p>Conklin won the 50 butterfly this morning (24.71), within striking distance of the NESCAC record (24.55). Williams&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Maia Hare\u00a0<\/strong>touched second (24.96) while Middlebury&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Meg Griffin\u00a0<\/strong>(25.29) earned the third seed.<\/p>\n<p>Williams&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Katherine Bennett\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50 backstroke (25.67), ahead of Amherst&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Destin Groff\u00a0<\/strong>(26.60) and Bates&#8217; Paine (26.74).<\/p>\n<p>Bowdoin senior\u00a0<strong>Bridget Killian\u00a0<\/strong>dropped over a second to swim the only NCAA B cut time in the 50 freestlye (23.84). She was followed by Williams&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Maia Hare\u00a0<\/strong>(23.98) and\u00a0Sultan (24.01).<\/p>\n<p>There were a number of significant time drops in the longer events, given that the NESCAC season begins on November first, and this was the first chance of the season for these swimmers to rest.\u00a0<strong>Lauren Jones\u00a0<\/strong>of Williams dropped 12 seconds to take the top seed in the 500 freestyle tonight (4:53.70). Middlebury&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Isabel Wyer\u00a0<\/strong>also dropped 12 seconds (4:55.55), while Conn&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Valerie Urban\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the third seed (4:59.00).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emma Waddell\u00a0<\/strong>of Williams dropped an impressive eight seconds from her season best, to set the NESCAC meet record, finishing in 2:02.02 in the 200 IM.\u00a0<strong>Emily Hyde<\/strong>, the 2014 NCAA Champion in the event, earned the second seed (2:02.15).\u00a0<strong>Sam Pierce\u00a0<\/strong>of Conn College finished third (2:02.95) after her own eight second drop.<\/p>\n<p>Amherst&#8217;s A squad set the Middlebury pool record this morning in the 400 medley relay.\u00a0<strong>Stephanie Moriarty<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Hannah Hummel<\/strong>, Conklin, and Pappas stopped the clock at 3:49.27.\u00a0<strong>Olivia Jackson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Olivia Clark<\/strong>,\u00a0Pierce, and\u00a0<strong>Lauren Jones\u00a0<\/strong>were just behind (3:49.90).
