Select swimmers from Boston College, NC State, Duke, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech competed at invitationals this weekend, while the Virginia divers competed at two meets. The 2016 Women’s ACC Championships begin on Feb. 17 in Greensboro, and\u00a0the men’s meet starts on Feb. 24.<\/p>\n

3 Top Takeaways:<\/h2>\n

1. The Virginia divers showed that they are ready for the ACC Championships with strong performances on both boards this weekend. The women competed on Friday against Richmond while both the Cavalier men’s and women’s team dove on Saturday at the JMU Invite.\u00a0Becca Corbet\u00a0<\/strong>won the 1m and placed second on the 3m on both days, and\u00a0Carl\u00a0Buergler\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Colby Shinholser\u00a0<\/strong>each won an event on Saturday.<\/p>\n

2. NC State’s\u00a0Natalie Labonge<\/strong> definitely made a statement on Saturday night at the Carolina College Invite, winning the women’s 100 fly in 52.47, setting a new school record in the process. Duke’s\u00a0Kathryn Eckhart<\/strong> dominated the women’s sprint events, winning the 50 free (23.08) and 100 free (50.14).<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0North Carolina’s\u00a0Rachel Canty<\/strong>\u00a0was a triple-event winner,\u00a0taking first in the women’s 200 IM (2:00.19), 100 breast (1:00.93), and 200 breast (2:12.23).\u00a0NC State’s Geoffrey Carter<\/strong> was also a triple-event winner, winning the men’s 200 IM (1:48.93), 100 breast (54.55), and 200 breast (1:59.76).<\/p>\n
