AT the Irvine Nova June Age Group Invitational held in Calif., this weekend, the Redlands Swim Team downed several U.S. National Age Group relay records.<\/p>\n<p>First, in the 200-meter free relay, the foursome of Joey Hale (23.58), Tyler Harp (23.27), Mike Perry (24.61) and Karl Krug (23.08) hit the wall in 1:34.54.  The four 18 year olds broke the previous 17-18 NAG record of 1:35.66 set by New Albany Swim back in 2003.  Incidentally, the time also broke the 15-18 NAG record of 1:36.04 set by Longhorn in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The same foursome of Hale (52.09), Harp (52.40), Perry (53.42) and Krug (50.95) also clocked a time of 3:28.86 in the 400 free relay.  That performance broke the 15-18 NAG record of 3:29.68 set by Longhorn in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>In other news from the meet, Hale has decided to commit to attend Auburn University with teammate Krug after decommiting from Arizona State due to its present status as a cut sport.  Hale is a four-star <a href=http:\/\/www.takeyourmarks.com\/swm661?src=swmr\/id=5258 target=_blank>recruit<\/a> in the <i>Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings.<\/p>\n<p>While Hale&#39;s departure isn&#39;t the best news for the Sun Devils, late last week they had positive responses from the athletics department as <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/lane9\/news\/18319.asp target=_blank>hard targets<\/a> have finally been set as the team hopes to get reinstated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IRVINE, California, June 23.
