{"id":183425,"date":"2016-02-07T08:00:52","date_gmt":"2016-02-07T15:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=183425"},"modified":"2016-02-07T00:28:39","modified_gmt":"2016-02-07T07:28:39","slug":"michigan-breezes-by-michigan-state-on-senior-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michigan-breezes-by-michigan-state-on-senior-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Michigan Breezes by Michigan State on Senior Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Andy Ross, Big Ten Beat Writer<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Michigan competed in an unconventional-style meet with 50s of butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke and a 100 IM on Saturday and beat in-state rival Michigan State in the process.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolverine men won every single event on the day.\u00a0<strong>Jeremy Raisky, Jason Chen\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Matt McNamara\u00a0<\/strong>each won two events on the day for the Wolverines. McNamara was the breaststroker on the winning 400 medley relay team along with\u00a0<strong>Pete Brumm<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Dylan Bosch<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Anders Nielsen<\/strong>. They won the race with a 3:14.89. McNamara then won the 50 breast at 25.77.<\/p>\n<p>Chen started his Saturday with a win in the 50 back (22.20) and a win in the 100 IM (49.41). Raisky won the 50 butterfly (21.46) and was a member of the winning 200 free relay team.\u00a0<strong>Kyle Dudzinski<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Aaron Ghiglieri<\/strong> and Nielsen joined Raisky on the winning 200 free relay team. Michigan also won the 800 free relay with\u00a0<strong>PJ Ransford<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Nick Killeen<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kai Williams\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Mokhtar Al-Yamani<\/strong> with a 6:37.94.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolverines also claimed wins from\u00a0<strong>Evan White\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 free (44.38),\u00a0<strong>Dylan Bosch\u00a0<\/strong>in the 500 (4:24.09),\u00a0<strong>Luke Papendick\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 back (1:47.16),\u00a0<strong>Paul Corbae\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 breast (2:06.19) and\u00a0<strong>Aaron Whitaker\u00a0<\/strong>in the 200 fly (1:50.54).<\/p>\n<p>The Michigan women continued their impressive season with a win over the Spartans as well. The women also won every event on the day for the Wolverines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rose Bi<\/strong> continued her impressive freshman campaign with a win in the 800 free relay (7:28.82), the 400 IM (4:18.01) and anchored the winning 200 free relay team (1:33.99).\u00a0<strong>Claudia Goswell<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Celia Keany<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Katie Duggan\u00a0<\/strong>were on the 800 free relay winning team and <strong>Julia Fiks Salem<\/strong>, Goswell and\u00a0<strong>Siobhan Haughey\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 free relay.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clara<\/strong> <strong>Smiddy<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Becca Postoll<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Gillian Ryan\u00a0<\/strong>also won two events on the day. Smiddy won the 50 back (25.50) and 100 IM (56.04). Postoll won the 100 free (51.22) and 200 back (2:00.53) and Ryan anchored the winning 400 medley relay (3:46.30) as well as the 200 fly (2:03.07).
