﻿{"id":183248,"date":"2016-02-05T20:11:59","date_gmt":"2016-02-06T03:11:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=183248"},"modified":"2016-02-06T04:04:34","modified_gmt":"2016-02-06T11:04:34","slug":"records-continue-to-be-broken-at-northeast-10-finals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/records-continue-to-be-broken-at-northeast-10-finals\/","title":{"rendered":"Records Continue To Be Broken at Northeast 10 Finals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Delaney Lanker, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tonight, the men&#8217;s 200 IM and 50 freestyle records went down at the Northeast 10 Championships day two finals.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Connecticut&#8217;s <strong>Raymond Cswerko<\/strong>, won the men&#8217;s 200 IM in the time of 1:48.14, breaking his own NE 10 conference record that he preciously set in 2013 (1:49.51).\u00a0Another SCSU owl came in second, senior <strong>Christopher Curtin<\/strong> went a 1:52.18 and PACE freshman, <strong>Alex\u00a0Dimcevski<\/strong> finished in third with a time of 1:54.38.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 50 freestyle, all of the top three went under 21 seconds. SCSU&#8217;s <strong>Brendan Murphy<\/strong> won the event in the time of 20.07. While he was just shy of breaking 20 seconds, it was quick enough to best his own NE 10 record that he set in 2014 (20.45). PACE&#8217;s <strong>Liu\u00a0Nianzhong<\/strong> came in second (20.84) and SCSU&#8217;s <strong>Tyler\u00a0Vander Vos<\/strong> came in third (20.90).<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 500 freestyle Southern Connecticut took first and second place. <strong>Louis Geist<\/strong>, bested his prelims time and touched first in a 4:35.56, while teammate <strong>Dylan\u00a0Swanepoel<\/strong> came in second (4:36.42). PACE sophomore <strong>Brian Sosa<\/strong> finished third in a\u00a04:37.68.<\/p>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s meet it was a close race for first between SCSU&#8217;s <strong>Sydney\u00a0Fromkin<\/strong> and Assumption&#8217;s <strong>Shannon Quirk<\/strong>. In the end, Fromkin took the win with a time of 5:02.71, out touching Quirk who went a\u00a05:03.39. SCSU&#8217;s <strong>Jenni\u00a0Belanger<\/strong> came in third with a 5:06.16, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>It was an even closer race for the gold in the women&#8217;s 200 IM. Assumption&#8217;s <strong>Niamh Morgan<\/strong> (2:06.03) snatched the win from Bentley&#8217;s <strong>Emily\u00a0Niemiec<\/strong> (2:06.50). Assumption senior <strong>Victoria Weber<\/strong> came in third with a\u00a02:08.41.<\/p>\n<p>In the 50 freestyle, SCSU&#8217;s <strong>Katie Crochet<\/strong> came in first (23.60), Le Moyne&#8217;s <strong>Tara\u00a0O&#8217;Donnell<\/strong> finished second (24.00) and Bentley junior <strong>Kaitlin\u00a0McGahie<\/strong> finished third (24.40).<\/p>\n<p>Southern Connecticut took first in the women&#8217;s 400 medley relay. The women&#8217;s team of <strong>Aubrey Bailey<\/strong> (58.56), <strong>Lilly Martin<\/strong> (1:07.34), <strong>Emily Wolfe<\/strong> (57.01) and <strong>Katie Crochet<\/strong> (50.38) won in a time of 3:53.29.<\/p>\n<p>It was a race for second between the Le Moyne and Assumption relays teams. In the end, the\u00a0Le Moyne team of Tara O&#8217;Donnell (56.86), <strong>Kelsey Smith<\/strong> (1:06.06), <strong>Alyssa Baker<\/strong> (59.26) and <strong>Sarah Gaffney<\/strong> (54.21) finished second in a 3:56.39. The Assumption team finished right behind them with the team of Victoria\u00a0Weber (59.17), <strong>Rachel Ferris<\/strong> (1:06.14), <strong>Courtney Barr<\/strong> (58.38) and Niamh\u00a0Morgan (52.96) in the time of 3:56.65.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s \u2013 Team Rankings \u2013 Through Event 14<br \/>\n1.
