PHOENIX, Arizona, June 19. NEXT up in the Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings Profile series is Jordan Danny. Danny, who is a five-star breaststroker in the Class of 2009, lives in Santa Clarita, Calif. There, she swims for Steven Neale at Hart High and Jeff Conwell at Canyons Aquatic Club.<\/p>\n

Danny, who maintains her own profile<\/a> in the Swimming World<\/i> College Recruit Rankings<\/a> powered by Take Your Marks<\/i>, has a pair of Olympic Trials cuts in the 100 breast (1:10.64) and 200 breast (2:30.53).<\/p>\n

Danny also would have already qualified for the NCAA Division I Championships in the 100-yard breast (1:01.73) last year and has a pair of B cuts with times of 2:16.83 in the 200-yard breast and 2:03.18 in the 200-yard IM.<\/p>\n

Where and when did you start swimming?<\/b>
\nI joined club swimming when I was 5, I started swimming to help my asthma get better and I fell in love with the sport. I joined Canyons Aquatic Club and have been with the team ever since then.<\/p>\n

Who would you name as the most influential person and coach in your swimming career?<\/b>
\nI would say that it would be too hard to pick just one influential person as I believe the people that I surround myself with on a daily basis are the most amazing support system I could ever ask for. If I have to pick, it would be my parents, who quite simply are wonderful people, and who each help to play a role in my success! <\/p>\n

And, of course, my coach Jeff Conwell, who I have been training with since I was nine. He pushes me to the next level each and every day! And, inspirationally, my Hart High School Coach Steve Neale.<\/p>\n

What, to this point, is your best moment in the sport and why?<\/b>
\nMy best moment for me would have to be winning CIF Division 2 with my high school team. The energy was amazing, and we all pushed each other to swim fast. Also my other favorite moment would be winning the CIF Masters meet in the 100-yard breaststroke. All of the CIF divisions get together and compete for ultimate glory. I stuck with my game plan and desired to win. Also, of course, getting my Trials cut in the 200 breast last summer and getting it in the 100 breast this summer. <\/p>\n

Walk us through a day of practice:<\/b>
\nDuring summer, we swim four doubles (Monday through Thursday) with four dryland workouts and just one workout on Friday and Saturday. <\/p>\n

During school, I do two doubles (Tuesday and Thursday) and four dryland workouts.<\/p>\n

Also, during summer, I wake up at 5:45 and get in the pool at 6:30-8:30 then I hurry and change to do dryland. Dryland for us consists of running, medicine balls, wall sits, crunches, push ups, steps, suicide running and other dry exercises. Then, after I head home and most likely take a nap, catch up on movies, read, or hang out with friends. Then, we have another workout from 4-6. <\/p>\n

During the school year on a day that I have a double, I wake up at 4:45 and go to work out from 5:15-6:45. I get to come home and shower and change before school, which for me started at 8 this semester. School for me ended at 12:19 and every day I would go home and nap, work on school work and head to the pool at 5:15 for dryland. Then practice from 6-8. <\/p>\n

What is your favorite set?<\/b>
\nMy favorite set is constantly changing, but right now, my favorite set is (in long course) 6X100 free on the 1:20 (make the interval and get your heart rate up) followed by 3 50s on the 1:00 on your 200 race pace. 3 times number one, 3 times choice. I also love long kicking sets with a kick board, like for example 600, 50 easy, 100 fast.<\/p>\n

What is your least favorite set?<\/b>
\nI am mainly a sprinter and enjoy long sprint sets. So, when my coach told us our main set was going to be 3X1000 descend…If I had to pick, that one would be in the running for least favorite. <\/p>\n

What are your short-term goals?<\/b>
\nTo be successful at The United States Olympic Trials in Nebraska, and to continue to train hard and break records, and be recruited for college.<\/p>\n

What are your long-term goals?<\/b>
\nTo get better, faster, stronger, have a fabulous college experience, to be a finalist in the NCAAs and to be a member of The United States Olympic Team in 2012.<\/p>\n

What colleges are you interested in so far?<\/b>
\nI am currently looking forward to taking my recruiting trips and having the opportunity to find the perfect fit for me, academically and athletically. Being able to go on a few Junior Days this past year gave me glimpse of how amazing the programs are and I am looking forward to starting the recruit process this Fall.<\/p>\n

Is there anything else interesting that you'd like our readers to know about you?<\/b>
\nWell, sometimes after seeing a movie or television show with people who speak with a British accent, I somehow pick it up and will talk with a British accent in front of my parents…hmmm, could this be preparing me for London?<\/p>\n
