J.R. Rosania offers another series of nine exercise tips on <i>SwimmingWorld.TV<\/i>, appearing on page 57 of the June issue of <i>Swimming World Magazine<\/i>, that will make swimmers stronger. The dumbbell tricep extension helps the swimmer have more power on the exit part of the stroke. In the bent-over dumbbell row, the back muscles get a workout.<\/p>\n<p>The barbell curl is good for the pulling motion in swimming, and Rosania stresses that it should be done slowly with the arms extending at the end of each repetition. The lateral dumbbell fly can be done on an exercise ball, which forces swimmers to use the core muscles as they do the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The toe press strengthens the calf and ankle muscles, which help swimmers get more explosive power off the walls. The dumbbell chest press can also be done on an exercise ball, he said. The front deltoid raise and bent-over butterfly strengthen the shoulders.
