{"id":181056,"date":"2016-01-31T11:08:28","date_gmt":"2016-01-31T18:08:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=181056"},"modified":"2016-01-31T11:08:28","modified_gmt":"2016-01-31T18:08:28","slug":"sarah-sjostrom-runs-roughshod-over-swedish-grand-prix-with-6-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarah-sjostrom-runs-roughshod-over-swedish-grand-prix-with-6-wins\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarah Sjostrom Runs Roughshod Over Swedish Grand Prix With 6 Wins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> uncorked a six-victory weekend at the Swedish Grand Prix in Malmo as she dominated the two-day event.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-sarah-sjostrom-smoke-100-fly-u-s-open-record\/\" target=\"_blank\">following a U.S. Open January-record 56.38 at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Austin earlier this month<\/a>, cruised to a win in the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly in 57.13. \u00a0<strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> was the only other swimmer under 1:00 with a 59.84.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom clipped her own Swedish record in the women&#8217;s 50-meter back with a 28.21. \u00a0That swim cleared her 2015 record of 28.22 set as part of the FFN Golden Tour. <strong>Ida Lindborg<\/strong> finished second in 28.77. \u00a0 Lindborg later won the women&#8217;s 200-meter back in 2:15.73.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sarah-sjostrom-just-misses-50-free-u-s-open-record-austin\/\" target=\"_blank\"> after nearly clocking a U.S. Open record in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free in Austin with a 24.17<\/a>, Sjostrom didn&#8217;t lose too much speed as she won the event in 24.64. \u00a0<strong>Magdalena Kuras<\/strong> finished nearly a second back with a 25.44.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom collected her fourth win of the meet with a 54.27 in the women&#8217;s 100-meter free. \u00a0<strong>Ida Marka-Varga<\/strong> picked up second-place honors in 55.68.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom, who owns the Swedish record with a 59.98 from the 2015 Swim Cup, won the women&#8217;s 100-meter back in a time of 1:01.05. Lindborg put up another second-place finish behind Sjostrom with a 1:01.41.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom&#8217;s sixth victory came by way of the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly. \u00a0She clocked a sizzling time of 25.24 for the win.<strong> Amit Ivri<\/strong> took second with a time of 26.76.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,<strong> Sophie Hansson<\/strong> cruised to victory in the women&#8217;s 100-meter breast in 1:08.87. Hansson claimed her second title with a 31.89 in the women&#8217;s 50-meter breast. Hansson tripled with a winning time of 2:32.51 in the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally,<strong> Jaqueline Hippi<\/strong> clinched the women&#8217;s 200-meter IM title in 2:17.56. Hippi swept the IMs with a 4:53.56 in the women&#8217;s 400-meter IM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adam Paulsson<\/strong> put up a 4:28.78 to win the men&#8217;s 400-meter IM. Paulsson doubled up with a 1:51.71 in the men&#8217;s 200-meter free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Erik Persson<\/strong> clocked a 2:12.80 to win the men&#8217;s 200-meter breast. Persson put up a 1:02.13 to top the men&#8217;s 100-meter breast for a second victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marcus Schlesinger<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 50-meter fly in 24.27. Schlesinger took home the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly title as well with a time of 54.21.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christoffer Carlsen<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 100-meter free in 50.46. Carlsen swept the sprint frees with a 23.28 in the men&#8217;s 50-meter free as he tied <strong>David Gamburg<\/strong>, who also clocked a 23.28 to share the title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victor Johansson<\/strong> turned in a 3:56.35 to top the men&#8217;s 400-meter free. Johansson won a second title with a time of 15:40.15 in the men&#8217;s 1500-meter free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrea Murez<\/strong> claimed the women&#8217;s 200-meter free in 2:00.62, while\u00a0<strong>Hanna Eriksson<\/strong> posted a 9:09.34 to win the women&#8217;s 800-meter free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keren Seibner<\/strong> put up a 2:13.67 to win the women&#8217;s 200-meter fly, while\u00a0<strong>Erica Dahlgren<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 400-meter free in 4:24.46.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexander Morgan<\/strong> topped the men&#8217;s 50-meter breast in 29.10, while\u00a0<strong>Yakov Toumarkin<\/strong> hit the wall in 55.83 to win the men&#8217;s 100-meter back.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jesper Bjork<\/strong> posted a 2:01.32 to win the men&#8217;s 200 fly, while\u00a0<strong>Jonatan Kopelev<\/strong> snagged the men&#8217;s 50-meter back title in 25.35.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Simon Sjodin <\/strong>also topped the men&#8217;s 200-meter IM in 2:01.48.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2016-swedish-grand-prix-malmo\/international-elite\/2016\/January\/30\" target=\"_blank\">2016 Swedish Grand Prix, Malmo &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sarah Sjostrom uncorked a six-victory weekend at the Swedish Grand Prix in Malmo as she dominated the two-day event.
