{"id":180943,"date":"2016-01-31T09:07:06","date_gmt":"2016-01-31T16:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=180943"},"modified":"2016-01-31T10:08:47","modified_gmt":"2016-01-31T17:08:47","slug":"laszlo-cseh-blitzes-january-record-in-100-fly-in-luxembourg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/laszlo-cseh-blitzes-january-record-in-100-fly-in-luxembourg\/","title":{"rendered":"Laszlo Cseh Blitzes January Record in 100 Fly in Luxembourg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Laszlo Cseh<\/strong> posted the fastest January men&#8217;s 100-meter fly ever at the 2016 Luxembourg Euro Meet.<\/p>\n<p>Cseh threw down a swift time of 51.40. \u00a0That time cleared the 51.64 set by <strong>Jack Conger<\/strong> at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Austin in 2015. \u00a0Cseh also downed his meet record of 52.57 from last year.<\/p>\n<p>The 51.40 would have ranked 10th in the world last year as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ivan Lendjer<\/strong> finished second in 52.64 with <strong>Philip Heintz<\/strong> claiming third in 53.04.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/marco-koch-blasts-14th-fastest-200-breast-all-time\/\" target=\"_blank\">day after posting the fastest January 200 breast ever<\/a>, <strong>Marco Koch<\/strong> posted a meet-record time of 1:00.45 in the men&#8217;s 100-meter breast. That swim cleared Koch&#8217;s meet record of 1:00.64 from 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giedrius Titenis<\/strong> took second in 1:01.11 with <strong>Christian Vom Lehn<\/strong> placing third in 1:01.29.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mireia Belmonte<\/strong> took down <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> in the women&#8217;s 400-meter free, 4:07.94 to 4:10.45, to kick off the final evening. \u00a0That swim smashed Hosszu&#8217;s meet record of 4:08.61 set back in 2014. <strong>Sarah Koehler<\/strong> wound up third in 4:10.56.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu took another loss as <strong>Mercedes Peris<\/strong> touched out Hosszu in the women&#8217;s 50-meter back, 28.12 to 28.34. \u00a0Both cleared Hosszu&#8217;s meet record of 28.80 set in prelims today. \u00a0<strong>Daryna Zevina<\/strong> finished third in 28.95.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ilaria Bianchi<\/strong>\u00a0took down the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly meet record with a 58.59. \u00a0That swim cleared her preliminary record of 59.27. \u00a0<strong>Emilia Pikkarainen<\/strong> finished second in 59.09 with <strong>Judith Ignacio<\/strong> claiming third in 59.31. \u00a0Hosszu faded to ninth in 1:01.48.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu finally got it going with a 54.58 to win the women&#8217;s 100-meter free. That swim beat Amy Smith&#8217;s 2012 meet record of 54.78. <strong>\u00a0Julie Meynen<\/strong> (55.36) and<strong> Jessica Jackson<\/strong> (55.69) closed out the rest of the podium.<\/p>\n<p>Zevina delivered Hosszu another loss as Zevina blasted the meet record in the women&#8217;s 200-meter back with a 2:09.95. \u00a0That swim cleared her own prelim record of 2:10.17. \u00a0Hosszu took second in 2:12.80 with <strong>Doerte Baumert<\/strong> placing third in 2:14.69.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Velimir Stjepanovic<\/strong> crushed the meet record in the men&#8217;s 400-meter free with a time of 3:48.70. That swim eclipsed the previous mark of 3:50.74 set by <strong>Christian Kubusch<\/strong> back in 2009. <strong>Mykhailo Romanchuk<\/strong> finished second in 3:51.43 with<strong> Sergii Frolov<\/strong> picking up third in 3:52.43.<\/p>\n<p>Stjepanovic doubled up with a meet-record 48.50 in the men&#8217;s 100-meter free. \u00a0That effort cleared the 49.20 clocked by <strong>Alain Bernard<\/strong> in 2011. \u00a0<strong>Ben Proud<\/strong> took second in 49.15 with <strong>Mohamed Elsayed<\/strong> claiming third in 50.13.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shane Ryan<\/strong> grabbed the men&#8217;s 50-meter back title in a time of 25.29. \u00a0<strong>Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong> finished second in 25.75 with <strong>Magnus Jakupsson<\/strong> earning third in 25.93.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Martina Carraro<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 100-meter breast in 1:08.11. \u00a0<strong>Jessica Vall<\/strong> took second in 1:08.16, while <strong>Jessica Steiger<\/strong> finished third in 1:09.64.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gabor Balog<\/strong> topped the men&#8217;s 200-meter back in 2:01.81. \u00a0<strong>Conor Ferguson<\/strong> finished second in 2:03.18 with <strong>Tomas Ludvik<\/strong> earning third in 2:04.74.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2016-luxembourg-euro-meet-day-3\/international-elite\/2016\/January\/29\" target=\"_blank\">2016 Luxembourg Euro Meet: Day 3 &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Laszlo Cseh posted the fastest January men&#8217;s 100-meter fly ever at the 2016 Luxembourg Euro Meet.
