The teams competed on both Friday and Saturday, with Saturday&#8217;s competition scored as exhibition. On Friday, however, the Longhorns continued their domination of Division I swimming with a victory on both sides.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s meet kicked off with a Texas victory in the 200 medley relay. A team of\u00a0<strong>John Shebat, Will Licon, Will Glass,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Brett Ringgold\u00a0<\/strong>touched with a time of 1:28.49, half a second behind the Arizona team of\u00a0<strong>Chatham Dobbs, Andrew Sovero, Chad Idensohn,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Renny Richmond<\/strong> (1:29.02). Texas freshman\u00a0<strong>Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>then won the 1000 free with a time of 9:18.18. Arizona junior\u00a0<strong>Ty Fowler<\/strong> was second (9:23.42), while his sophomore teammate\u00a0<strong>Nick Hogsed<\/strong> was third (9:26.99). The 200 free was won by Texas freshman\u00a0<strong>Ryan Harty<\/strong> (1:38.28), second went to Arizona&#8217;s freshman\u00a0<strong>Parks Jones\u00a0<\/strong>(1:39.23), and third was grabbed by Longhorn junior\u00a0<strong>PJ Dunne\u00a0<\/strong>(1:40.66).<\/p>\n<p>The Texas sophomore Ringgold and freshman Shebat nabbed the top two spots in the 100 back with 48.94 and 49.18, respectively. Arizona freshman Dobbs was third (49.95). Sophomore\u00a0<strong>Austin Temple\u00a0<\/strong>added another win to the Longhorn&#8217;s meet with a victory in the 100 breast (56.51). Wildcat senior Sovero was second (56.69), over half a second ahead of Texas junior\u00a0<strong>Hayden Henry\u00a0<\/strong>(57.36). Harty doubled up with a win in the 200 fly (1:47.94). He was followed by senior teammate\u00a0<strong>John Martens\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.60) and Arizona&#8217;s sophomore\u00a0<strong>Justin Wright<\/strong> (1:48.83).<\/p>\n<p>The Wildcats struck back hard against the Longhorns in the 50 free with a sweep led by the junior Richmond (20.73) and completed by sophomores\u00a0<strong>JP Beach<\/strong> (20.83) and Idensohn (21.01). Arizona&#8217;s sweep of the 50 was answered by a Texas sweep in the 100 free, though. Led by Ringgold (44.76), it was completed by Haas (45.41) and senior\u00a0<strong>John Murray<\/strong> (45.75). Arizona&#8217;s junior\u00a0<strong>Thane Maudslien<\/strong> won the 200 back (1:48.54), over a second ahead of second place, which was grabbed by Texas junior Licon (1:49.73). Shebat was third (1:51. 99).<\/p>\n<p>The Longhorns&#8217;\u00a0Henry won the 200 breast (2:04.73), well ahead of Arizona junior\u00a0<strong>Gage Crosby<\/strong> (2:06.53), while the Texas sophomore\u00a0<strong>Jonathan Roberts<\/strong> claimed the 500 free (4:33.04). Arizona&#8217;s Hogsed was second (4:34.10) and Fowler was third (4:36.89). Junior Will Glass of Texas grabbed first in the 100 fly (48.72), about a second ahead of Arizona sophomore\u00a0<strong>Moose Skjaerpe\u00a0<\/strong>(49.70).\u00a0The meet was then scored as exhibition and Texas junior diver\u00a0<strong>Mark Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>won the 1-meter, while\u00a0classmate\u00a0<strong>Sean O&#8217;Brien<\/strong> grabbed the 3-meter.<\/p>\n<p>The final score of the meet was 167-128 in Texas&#8217; favor.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>The women&#8217;s meet was much closer between the ranked teams, with the meet coming down to the last few events.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona struck first with a victory in the 200 medley relay. The team of\u00a0<strong>Annie Ochitwa, Emma Schoettmer, Mackenzie Rumrill,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Taylor Schick<\/strong> took first with a time of 1:40.03, just two tenths of a second ahead of the Texas team of\u00a0<strong>Tasija Karosas, Olivia Anderson, Mimi Schneider,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Rebecca Millard<\/strong> (1:40.23). Texas freshman\u00a0<strong>Joanna Evans\u00a0<\/strong>then grabbed first in the 1000 free (9:58.94), almost 20 seconds ahead of Arizona freshman\u00a0<strong>Emma McCarthy<\/strong>, who was second (10:17.43). The Longhorns proceeded to sweep the 200 free, led by junior\u00a0<strong>Madisyn Cox\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.42) and completed by Evans (1:49.05) and fellow freshman\u00a0<strong>Quinn Carrozza\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.36).<\/p>\n<p>Texas&#8217; junior Karosas took first in the 100 back (53.93) and was followed by a pair of Wildcat freshman&#8211;<strong>Taylor Garcia\u00a0<\/strong>was second (54.66), while Ochitwa was third (54.80). Arizona senior Schoettmer was first in the 100 breast (1:02.82), beating Texas freshman Anderson by just over a tenth\u00a0of a second (1:02.95). The Longhorns then grabbed the top two spots in the 200 fly. Freshman\u00a0<strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> was first (2:02.09) and her junior teammate\u00a0<strong>Maggie D&#8217;Innocenzo\u00a0<\/strong>followed just a hundredth of second behind (2:02.10). Arizona&#8217;s freshman\u00a0<strong>Mik Ranslem\u00a0<\/strong>was third (2:03.83).<\/p>\n<p>Arizona senior Schick was the only woman under 23 in the 50 free (22.99). She was followed by Texas&#8217; sophomore Millard (23.10) and Arizona freshman\u00a0<strong>Paige Kremer\u00a0<\/strong>(23.41). Wildcat freshman\u00a0<strong>Katrina Kanopka\u00a0<\/strong>then won the 100 free (50.36) and was followed by Millard (50.57) and Texas freshman\u00a0<strong>Nora McCullagh<\/strong> (50.84). Longhorns Karosas and Carrozza then grabbed the top two spots in the 200 back with 1:56.82 and 1:58.73, respectively. Cox added another individual win to her day with a victory in the 200 breast (2:12.71). She was followed by Schoettmer (2:14.80) and Arizona&#8217;s junior\u00a0<strong>Sara Borendame\u00a0<\/strong>(2:18.54).<\/p>\n<p>Evans doubled up with a win in the 500 free (4:49.17) ahead of Arizona senior\u00a0<strong>Bonnie Brandon<\/strong> (4:51.49) and McCullagh (4:52.07). The Wildcats then swept the 100 fly, led by Ochitwa&#8217;s 54.16 and completed by Rumrill (54.66) and Garcia (55.40). Cox completed the day with a third win in the 200 IM (2:01.06) and was followed by Arizona freshman\u00a0<strong>Karli Thuen\u00a0<\/strong>(2:05.30) and Rumrill (2:05.69). An Arizona team of Konopka, Schick, Brandon, and Ochitwa took the 400 free relay (3:19.89), about a second ahead of the Texas team of Karosas, Millard, McCullagh, and Cox (3:20.90).<\/p>\n<p>Texas divers\u00a0<strong>Meghan O&#8217;Brien\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Meghan Houston<\/strong> went 1-2 on the 1-meter competition, while Arizona&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sally Hackett\u00a0<\/strong>took first on the 3-meter, followed by O&#8217;Brien.
