The Gophers started and ended the day with relay wins with <strong>Zoe Avestruz<\/strong>, <strong>Rachel Munson<\/strong>, <strong>Danielle Nack<\/strong> and <strong>Lauren Votava<\/strong> winning the 200 medley relay (1:41.64) and Votava, Avestruz, Nack\u00a0and <strong>Abigail Raatz<\/strong> winning the 400 free relay (3:20.23).<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota also got a win from <strong>Sam Harding<\/strong> in the 1000 with a 9:48.97 over Purdue&#8217;s <strong>Kaersten Meitz<\/strong> (9:51.95). Sophomores Nack and <strong>Brooke Zeiger<\/strong> raced to wins in the 200 fly (1:59.21) and 200 IM\u00a0(2:02.08) respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Purdue had two wins on the day from the women with senior <strong>Allie Davis<\/strong> winning the 200 free (1:46.20) and fellow senior <strong>Emily Fogle<\/strong> winning the 100 breast (1:01.53).<\/p>\n<p>Northwestern also collected two wins on the women&#8217;s side in their home pool with junior <strong>Lacey Locke<\/strong> in the 100 back (55.18) and <strong>Mary Warren<\/strong> in the 50 free (23.13).<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, it was Minnesota who dominated the day with two relay wins. <strong>Daryl Turner<\/strong>, <strong>Conner McHugh<\/strong>, <strong>Paul Fair<\/strong> and <strong>Bowen Becker<\/strong> won the 200 medley relay with a 1:28.40 and Turner, Fair, Becker and <strong>Noah Busch<\/strong> won the 400 free relay with a 2:57.42.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Turner won the 100 back for the Gophers at a very fast 47.31. McHugh won the 100 breast at 55.61 and Becker won the 50 with a 20.22 to give the Gophers a sound advantage on the Boilermakers and Wildcats.<\/p>\n<p>Purdue got wins from <strong>Josh Brooks<\/strong> in the 1000 (9:22.03), who split a 25.29 on his last 50 to overtake Minnesota&#8217;s <strong>Michael Messner<\/strong> who finished with a 25.52 and a 9:22.06. Boilermaker senior <strong>Daniel Conway<\/strong> also won the 200 fly with a 1:48.93.<\/p>\n<p>Northwestern picked up two wins thanks to freshman <strong>Anthony Marcantonio<\/strong>. The transfer won the 200 free with a 1:38.62 ahead of Fair of Minnesota at 1:38.68. Marcantonio then returned to win the 200 IM at 1:50.36 holding off a charging <strong>Brian Poon<\/strong> of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>It was also evident in the results that Purdue did not take some of its best swimmers in sophomore breaststroker <strong>Marat Amaltdinov<\/strong> and senior sprinter <strong>Adam Johnston<\/strong>.
