Coming off of a win against LSU, The Texas A&M men continued to excell\u00a0with a 143-98 win over Southern Methodist University.<\/p>\n
The Aggies started off the day with a first and second place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. SMU’s top team finished nearly six seconds behind the top Texas A&M team. The winning Aggie team of\u00a0backstroker\u00a0Brock Bonetti,\u00a0<\/strong>breaststroker\u00a0Mauro Castillo Luna,\u00a0<\/strong>butterflier\u00a0Turker Ayar\u00a0<\/strong>and freestyle\u00a0Jacob Gonzales\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 3:11.70.<\/p>\n SMU’s\u00a0Lucas Schenke\u00a0<\/strong>took the first event of the day: the 1000-yard freestyle. Schenke touched in 9:15.33, over a second ahead of Texas A&M’s\u00a0Mitch Glander.\u00a0<\/strong>The Mustangs continued to roll in the 200-yard freestyle.\u00a0Christian Scherubl\u00a0<\/strong>took first with a time of 1:37.20.<\/p>\n Ziga Cerkonvik\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50-yard freestyle for SMU. The 21-year old touched in 20.25. The Aggies picked up second, third, fourth and fifth place finishes in the event.<\/p>\n The Aggies took the top four spots in the 200-yard individual medley.\u00a0Austin Van Overdam\u00a0<\/strong>led the way, posting a time of 1:47.72.<\/p>\n SMU’s\u00a0Bryce Klein\u00a0<\/strong>took the win in 3-meter diving, posting a score of 407.25. Texas A&M’s\u00a0Sam Thornton\u00a0<\/strong>took the one-meter event with a score of 399.08.<\/p>\n Jose Martinez\u00a0<\/strong>touched first for Texas A&M in the 200-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:46.19. Ayar followed with a win in the 100-yard freestyle, just beating teammate\u00a0Justin Morey\u00a0<\/strong>with a time of 44.29.<\/p>\n Bonetti picked up an individual win for Texas A&M, touching first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:42.93. He won the race by nearly five seconds.<\/p>\n Schenke picked up a second individual win, posting a time of 4:31.59 to take first in\u00a0the 500-yard freestyle.<\/p>\n Castillo Luna won the last individual event of the day: the 200-yard breaststroke. He posted a time of 1:54.97.<\/p>\n The 400-yard freestyle relay ended the meet. SMU technically won the race, but Texas A&M posted the fastest time. The Aggies swam all four of their relays as exhibition.
