The Mountaineer men commanded the meet from the beginning and came away with an astonishing 200-77 victory. The Iowa State women beat the West Virginia Women with a score of 158-141, but fell to Villanova with a score of 173-124. The West Virginia also fell to the Villanova women by a score of 175-122.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>The West Virginia men kicked the meet off in resounding fashion when they swept the 400 medley relay. The A team of\u00a0<strong>Nate Carr, Max Spencer, Andrew Marsh,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ross Glegg<\/strong> took the event with a time of 3:22.39. They were followed by the B team of\u00a0<strong>Jay Hickey, Aidan Fumagalli, Chase Williams,<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Frank Csonka<\/strong> were second (3:27.79), while the C team of\u00a0<strong>Merwane Elmerini, Jake Armstrong, Austin Green,<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Chris McMahon<\/strong> touched third (3:31.06).\u00a0The Mountaineer men went on to sweep every event of the meet except for the 50 free, where they took the top two spots.<\/p>\n<p>Individual event winners included sophomore\u00a0<strong>James Koval\u00a0<\/strong>in the 1000 free (9:49.29) and 500 free (4:46.95), the senior Marsh in the 200 free (1:40.09) and 200 back (1:49.66), freshman Elmerini in the 100 back (52.12), and senior\u00a0<strong>Max Spencer\u00a0<\/strong>in the 100 breast (55.97) and 200 breast (2:01.61). Junior\u00a0<strong>Nathan Howells\u00a0<\/strong>took the 200 fly (1:56.59), senior Glegg won the 50 free (21.09) and 100 free (46.30), sophomore\u00a0<strong>Alex Obendorf\u00a0<\/strong>was first on the 1-meter board (304.35) and freshman\u00a0<strong>Emmott Blitch\u00a0<\/strong>was first on 3-meter (271.25). Chase Williams took the 100 fly (50.51) and Carr won the 400 IM (4:05.57).<\/p>\n<p>The Mountaineer men confidently took the victory and celebrated their seniors.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s Meet:<\/h2>\n<p>The meet between the Iowa State, West Virginia, and Villanova women was much more dynamic than the men&#8217;s meet, with several close races and ultimately close results at the end. Villanova opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:51.46 from the team of\u00a0<strong>Darby Goodwin, Elise Pidutti, Fiona Hardie,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Alexa Fabbri<\/strong>. They were followed the Iowa State team of\u00a0<strong>Marissa Engel, Kasey Roberts, Kaylee Kucera,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Mary Kate Luddy<\/strong> (3:53.92) and the West Virginia team of\u00a0<strong>Courtney Miller,<\/strong><strong> Emma Harris, Jaimee Gillmore,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Sydnee Karam<\/strong> (3:54.45). West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0junior\u00a0<strong>Emma Skelley<\/strong> grabbed the 1000 free (10:85), ahead of two Villanova women. Iowa State&#8217;s junior\u00a0<strong>Silqi Luo<\/strong> had the highest finish in the 200 free for a Big 12 school with third (1:52.65), while West Virginia&#8217;s senior Miller had a second place finish in the 100 back (56.71).<\/p>\n<p>Two Iowa State women grabbed the top two spots in the 100 breast&#8211;the sophomore Roberts claimed first (1:04.76), while sophomore\u00a0<strong>Danica Delaquis\u00a0<\/strong>was second (1:07.14). West Virginia&#8217;s Harris was third (1:07.65). West Virginia senior\u00a0<strong>Natalie Johnsen\u00a0<\/strong>was third in the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.63 and teammate Jaimee Gillmore was second in the 50 free (24.16). Luo was again third in an individual event with her 52.69 100 free, while Iowa State&#8217;s Engel was second in the 200 back (2:04.26), with West Virginia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amelie Currat\u00a0<\/strong>following for third (2:04.91).<\/p>\n<p>Kasey Roberts doubled up with her win in the 200 breast (2:20.54). She was followed by West Virginia&#8217;s Harris (2:22.85), and Iowa State teammate Delaquis (2:25.45). Skelley grabbed third in the 500 free (5:02.50), while her teammate\u00a0<strong>Celia Martinez De La Torre<\/strong> picked up a third place finish in the 100 fly (57.96). Roberts then followed up with a win in the 200 IM (2:05.41) for a hat trick.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 free relay fell the same way as the 400 medley did&#8211;A Villanova victory, followed by Iowa State in second and West Virginia in third.
