It was a tough go for the Kentucky swim program as they took on Ohio State (No. 15 men, No. 25 women). The Wildcats fell to the Buckeyes by a score of 193-107 on the women’s side and 203-97 on the men’s.<\/p>\n
Ohio State got off to a fast start, finishing in first and second place in the women’s 200-yard medley relay. The Buckeye team of backstroker\u00a0Camey Rabold,\u00a0<\/strong>breaststroker\u00a0Rachael Dzierzak,\u00a0<\/strong>butterflier\u00a0Liz Li\u00a0<\/strong>and freestyler\u00a0Annie Jongekrijg\u00a0<\/strong>posted a winning time of 1:40.11.<\/p>\n The Buckeyes also took first in the men’s race. The team of backstroker\u00a0Matt McHugh,\u00a0<\/strong>breaststroker\u00a0Dj MacDonald,\u00a0<\/strong>butterflier\u00a0Ching Lim\u00a0<\/strong>and freestyler\u00a0Mossimo Chavez\u00a0<\/strong>touched in 1:28.32 to pick up the first place finish.<\/p>\n The Wildcat women had a strong day from\u00a0Danielle Galyer.\u00a0<\/strong>The U.S. National Team member picked up three event wins for Kentucky. Galyer placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (54.56), 200-yard backstroke (1:56.35) and 200-yard individual medley (2:03.60).<\/p>\n The Kentucky men were led by\u00a0Kyle Higgins.\u00a0<\/strong>The junior won the 200-yard butterfly (1:46.37) and finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (48.77).\u00a0Drew Aviotti, Scott Crosthwaite<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Cobe Garcia\u00a0<\/strong>also picked up wins for the Wildcat men.<\/p>\n For Ohio State, McHugh picked up two individual wins on the day. He posted a time of 47.11 to take the 100-yard backstroke and won the 100-yard freestyle in 44.63.<\/p>\n Ohio State swept the 400-yard freestyle to wrap up the day.<\/p>\n In the women’s race, Ohio State’s team of\u00a0Maria Coy, Chantel Wynn, Emily Albrecht\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Kathleen Cook\u00a0<\/strong>touched first in 3:27.97. The team won by nearly six seconds over second place Kentucky.<\/p>\n The Buckeyes men’s team of\u00a0Nathan Christian, Andrew Appleby, Steffen Hillmer\u00a0<\/strong>and McHugh won with a time of 3:00.11.\u00a0Sean Gunn,\u00a0<\/strong>Crosthwaite, Higgins and Garcia finished second with a time of 3:01.40.<\/p>\n Kentucky will look to get back on track tomorrow against Cincinnati.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It was a tough go for the Kentucky swim program as they took on Ohio State (No. 15 men, No. 25 women).
